Arrow Weird issues with my UTEC...pls help !

Hey all,
I just hooked my UTEC up to my laptop for the first time (using a 9V power supply), and while everything appears to work fine at first, after some time the screen starts blinking slowly, and while still responding to user inputs, it will revert to the start-up screen (Edit, Log, etc..) I wouldn't say it does this every single time I try, but it does it most of the time. I'm running UTEC v2.8d by the way. Any idea what could be the matter? I'd really appreciate your input on this...

I have been there. A 9volt will drain fast with the utec I used 3 to get the job done. Use a good name brand battery.

Use a Brand new Duracell or Energizer, I tried some Everlast Batteries when I first got mine and All the screen would do is flicker and they were brand new.

Another quick question , I'm going to hook up the UTEC to my car tomorrow, and I'm still not crystal clear about where the red wire on the top right corner of the Molex connector is supposed to go. I know the black wire on the bottom right is supposed to be a ground, but I didn't see any mention of the red wire... Please advise, thanks!

with such minimal mods, i wouldnt even bother with the hassle of tuning with the UTEC. You'd need a dyno tune to notice anything.

i've been doin street tunes for the past day and a half to get a usuable NA tune, but there's no way i could feel 5 hp differences between timing settings or AF points.

bc they think 10 hp for 5-700$ is a good value.

its your money, and in this economy I sure want you to spend it. Just speaking from experience. spend that money on a set of shorter gears. you'll really feel that mod. 10 peak hp, not so much.

/\ Of course you are not going to feel 10whp or even 20whp because you are already used to having + 100whp with your Vortech..lol

to him with 300 at the weels, 10hp is like pocket change, not quite enough for the mc donalds dollar menu, but enough to get you a little candy....

to us with 230 at the wheels, 10hp is like having 20 bucks on us, we are going to mc donalds, taking a date, and getting big mac meals!

ok guys i installed the UTEC and loaded the base MAP from turbxs.com website !
(map for NA tuning - exhaust + cai mods)
the car is running very lean ! A/F are around 15- 16 on third gear....
btw A/F differ from one gear to another :/ is this normal ? u have to trust higher gears right ?

ps : can anyone share his NA map ?
10x !

Base Map mean exactly what it sound, it is a base to get you going so you need to tune it. Even if someone share you their MAP you will still need to tune it coz every car is different. Go drive to a tuner or do lots of lots of reading and learn to tune your car.
