Utec MAP threshold for open loop
Just a quick question, my utec was set with the map threshold for open loop fueling at 3 psi. I have a vortech kit with SW 600 cc injectors.
Shouldn't this be set to -1 psi or something lower?

It should be set at 0. Although when I was procharged and using a utec I set it to -2. Because it would go pig rich when changing transitions.I would start with 0 and go from there.
You cant just change that value and expect to be fine... What is you Map Min Value for Mapping? If you change that to 0 or 1 and your Map Min Value is 4psi then you will run pig rich going into boost.
My MAP min and max pressures have always been -1 and 10. I was asking about the MAP threshold setting.
When the car was tuned the open loop threshold was set at 2500 rpm and MAP of 3. I think the threshold should be lower, like 0. If I change it to a threshold of 0, will that uncover cells that weren't tuned?

yes any changes to the open loop map threshold will change every load point on your tune. so if your 50% load correspond to 6-7 psi, it will now correspnd to 4-5 psi, etc.
your entire map will be incorrect
read the manual, its all there (pg 34)

I posted on your other thread.. I'm curios why will you tuner set you up from -1 to 10psi and only set your open loop threshold to 3ps!?>! He's basically wasting some of the resolution because you will never see -1 to 2psi with that settings.
Base on your other thread, I believe you changed your map threshold to 0psi and experienced some lean condition. Now I'm thinking that since your tuner set your open loop threshold to 3psi that he didn't bother to tune your -1 to 2psi (10%-20% column). Since you changed your Open Loop Threshold to 0 psi, Utec is switching to load 10 as soon as you hit 0psi and if that is not tuned right then you are screwed.. Try adding some fuel below 3000rpm and load 10% and see if it did make a difference when you make the transition.

Open Loop TPS Threshold/Open Loop MAP Threshold allows you to set the crossover
point where the UTEC will switch from the 0% load column to the 10-100% load
columns. When Fuel Mode parameter is set to the Speed Density option, Open Loop TPS
Threshold is disabled and Open Loop MAP Threshold is enabled. The range is -15 to 5
psi. This option allows you to enter Open Loop Fuelling based upon a preset boost
pressure instead of throttle position.
So threshold is when it leaves 0% and goes to somewhere between 10% and 100%. The min MAP and Max MAP determines what load column it goes to beyond the threshold:
MAP Minimum Value for Mapping is the lowest MAP value in psi for the MAP referenced
load columns in the fuel and timing maps (the 10% column). This parameter is only used
when MAP is selected as the Load Indicator in the Open Loop fuelling Parameters menu.
12. MAP Maximum Value for Mapping is the highest MAP value in psi for the MAP
referenced columns in the fuel and timing maps (the 100% column). This parameter is
only used when MAP is selected as the Load Indicator in the Open Loop fuelling
Parameters menu.
So I agree that if you change the MAP minimum and MAP Maximum parameters your whole map is off, but changing the threshold only changes when the UTEC leaves the 0% column. So if the threshold is 3 while the MAP minimu is -1, then the UTEC will skip over the 10-30% load columns and start in the 40% column. So if I change the threshold to -1, then it will uncover the 10%-30 load columns.
/\ You are right, I forgot to correct str8dum1 about that. Changing the Open Loop Map Threshold doesn't change the entire tune... It does affect your fuel going into load though, meaning, if you are set for 1-10psi and you set your Open Loop Threshold to -4psi then you will run pig rich from -4 to 0 psi because you are dumping the same fuel you use for 1psi to a -4psi load.
