^ I would also think SPs triple pump hanger setup would help.

E85 is the way to go. The guy that tunes my car has tuned many evos and 2jz powered cars. And from what he tells me it helps out the car way more. Like they said your fuel system has to be big he says that a single big external pump is best for this. If im not mistaking e85 equals close to 116 octane or around their. Burns way cooler then regular pump 93 that’s why it allows higher boost and aggressive timing.

The problem with e85 is that if your car has a built fuel system already your most likely going to have to rebuild a new cause I heard that the fuel lines have to be coated with something since e85 is highly corrosive. And you have to put an inline filter and change the filter every 50 miles for like the first 300 miles cause it will clean all the dirt of your tank when first used. My tuner didn’t tell me this ive read this online so not sure if 100% true.

Default simple info

On our race cars we run methanol which is very similar to ethanol. The race cars fuel system is all anodized aluminum fitting with kevlar hose and we usually have to replace alot of the fittings at least once a year because the methanol just eats right through them. If your going to run e85 on a stock fuel system i would at least run a tank of gas every once in a while to lubricate some fuel parts and keep the corrosion away.

Also meth/ethanol is about 45000 btu and gasoline is about 110000btu meaning to get the same amount of energy you have to run twice the fuel but e85 is i think 55000 btu so you still got to run twice the fuel to get the same amount of energy. In theory!

But ethanol/methanol has a really high octane and a cooling effect on intake temps allowing for really high compression and really high boost pressures. For instance our race car motors run 15.5 to 1 compression on methanol making incredible power.

I know a lot of guys in 3000gt Land are going E85 for big builds as well.

Those who mentioned running it in their stock Z... it might be higher octane, but you still may run too lean (I think). Though... feel free to try it and let us know... lol.

Also, I love the irony of this "green" fuel that people are dumping loads of into their engines to make even bigger power, with more emissions. Mwahaha

of course you'll run lean if you dont have big enough injectors and fuel pump. Ideal AFR for E85 is around, compared to like 13 on regular gas, so you need ALOT more.

Like was mentioned you need to have teflon coated lines (ie NOT stock) if you want to be safe. That means a competely new fuel system.

for those who are running e85.. does your garage smell of fuel overnight?instantly? I've heard that it can give a bad smell.

E85 for a track car all the way. Dont know anyone with a 350Z who has done it, but two EVO friends have and one is running a FP Green at about 28 psi of boost fully modded engine and suspension. It sucks through gas, but when he tosses me the keys and wants a review of my driving impressions, its money well spent.

Why on earth would you use aluminum in the fuel system when it's known to react with methanol? Zinc coated brass fittings might be a better choice when it comes time to replace parts.
