It has been 9 months since I asked my first Osiris question. When you get to be my age, you don't move very fast.
I've got the parts finally ordered for my car and am waiting for them to arrive. Once I get them installed, I'm going to go to Intec Racing to have them install and Osiris flash with a dyno tune.
My question is whether I should get Cipher or not. The different is the $300 between purchasing the "Osiris Flash" and the "Osiris Standard".
I'm not a tuner and never will be. I did some tune modifications on my 3rd gen RX-7, but very minor. Intec has a great rep around the Seattle-Tacoma area (and happen to be an Osiris tuner) and I'll let them create the map.
However, it would be nice to be able to monitor the info from the car using Cipher. There may also be times when I would like to make simple parameter changes or simple check and reset engine codes. If I were to buy the Osiris Standard, it comes with 3 eTunes. I wouldn't be using those initially as that is what I'll be paying Intec to do. However, down the road you never know.
So, I'm looking for opinions (preferably with the reasons behind them) from folks that either have Osiris, Cipher, or both. If anyone, like me, has been looking at getting Osiris and has been going through the same decision making process I'd like your thoughts as well.
Thanks.

just bought and received my Osiris standard..
i went out, took the car for a spin while the cable was hooked up and Cipher was running. logged couple of runs and came back home.. what i'm doing atm is basically, knowing what is what, and how things work in the ECU. tomorrow i'll reset learned fuel settings, log couple of runs and then reflash the ECU, and log couple of runs on the new settings..
uhh..i can tell you that Cipher would be a good tool if you like to monitor what's going on under the hood, and probably test out couple of things..
get Osiris standard (which includes Cipher) and u get 3 etunes which gives u the benefit of tweaking ur tune. even if it was on a dyno.

I have had Cipher for 4 years and I have found it to be invaluable for trouble shooting, monitoring engine parameters, and occasional datalogging. I have even installed a carputor and seven inch touchscreen monitor so I can use it anytime. I would recommend it to anybody who plans to keep modifying there car as there budget allows. As for an example, I recently purchased the GTM dual fan shroud kit, It's hard to estimate your exact coolant temp with the console gauge, but with Cipher running I can see the changes in temp form running down the highway at 70, setting at idle at the stop light, spirited acceleration down a twisting road. Try seeing the difference in temps in console temp gauge.
