So today I try it again to see if I can fix it and when I was uploading, osiris simply stopped working. It just stayed there as if the upload was complete but it never said it was complete. After leaving it alone for about 10 minutes I decided there was nothing I could do so I just shut everything off.

To my surprise, I can't get the ECU to respond anymore. I even unplugged the battery for 15 minutes and it still turns the fans on and Osiris can't detect it.
which is why you upload a flash that was meant for your ECU...there are instructions on their website for a reason.. you cant blame UPREV for your mistake.

+1000000 (UNLESS YOU HAVE THE TUNING SOFTWARE uploaded to the cipher)

I never blamed uprev...I just said it crashed my ECU. After talking to Jared, I DO believe that I had a lot to do with it by uploading a rom not meant for my vehicle. I guess I assumed this software worked in the same fashion as the other softwares I've used in the past for other vehicles... obviously it doesn't...lol.

glad you got it fixed.

i freaked out the first time my car crashed when loading it. It was a simple crash so unpluging the car was all it took for it to fix the flash.

Just dragged this thread up because this has just happened to me.
Although I did not try and flash my car with someone elses rom.
my car already had an Osiris rom on the ecu.
I was in the rom editor and I changed the rpm limit on map two to try a two step launch control setup.
I clicked flash rom and it came up with an error, realised car was off turned it on, clicked flash rom again and it started to flash, fans spun up etc but when it finished it never said complete.
Now it can't detect the ecu, car won't start and the fans spin up

this really sux as I'm currently 10km from home and will need a tow.
Also I beleive I'm going to need to send my ecu back to the states to get fixed
haven't called uprev yet as it's 2am there

page 7 of the pdf owners manual is how to recover from a partial flash. Mine did that a few times and it's an easy fix.

You have to unhook your battery cable for at lesat 30 minutes to reset the ecu. Then double click "ecu not found" when the countdown timer starts you turn the car on. Then i think you follow the flashing instructions.

It's a very simple process so don't freak out. It will happen from time to time.

also, you do know there isn't a 2 step rev limiter on here right? i pray for your car's sake you aren't going to set the rev limit on one map, then when you launch try to change maps. That's going to get ugly fast.

ps: get the osiris user guide (should load on the computer when you load the software) and read it about 50 times before doing anything else. You would have seen how to easily recover from a crash if you read that.

It's an 03
thanks binder quite nooby of me. when it happened I panicked because I remembered this thread.

I havent done it yet but what's wrong with being in one map having another programmed in and letting go of set on launch.
Was just gonna try it for launches on hill climbs I do, (I don't drag race)

Battery is on charge now as it started to go flat while being towed.
driving it home with no power brakes or steering was interesting lol

ah, no biggy. just go through that manual and you'll understand it better. I think when i started iwth osiris i was going through that manual tons of times every day.

well, the map switch doesn't happen instantly. It happens fast but not "right now" like releasing a button for a 2 step. Also, with a manual trans think about where your hand is. i guess it won't matter with an n/a car but with my built engine there is no way i'll make my 1-2 shift in time unless my hand is on the shifter. It comes REALLY fast. So if you miss the osiris button because the car throws you back when you launch but you've already reached for the 1-2 shift you are stuck in low rev mode and just destroyed your run.

way too much going on there for me to deal with. I like 2 stage on left thumb and right hand on shifter for my launches. And the button is a release type so no worrying about if you pressed it hard enough. Just launch the car and let go of the button simple.

Yeah I get you, shouldn't be a problem with me as I'm RHD launching n/a car with road tyres on an actual road (not much grip).
All u have to do on launch is let go of set so big launch wouldn't matter.
Was only gonna try it for something different.

ok my car is fixed, thanks binder for the help
i wondered why i had not read that in the manual so i went back and read the whole thing as i had done many times and there is nothing in there about this recovery from a bad flash.
untill i realised my printed out version from the website is only 24 pages where as the version that comes with the install package is 27 pages and has that section in it

the version on the website although also called version 2 is incomplete!
