Default ? Hypertech Sport Power Programmer?

Does anyone have this? Did some research and all i am finding is +9 hp and +9 tq, and that is it. Every thread on this little gizmo has been to sell them thus far. So i am wondering if there is anyone out there who can shed some light on if it is worth the price to pick it up?

i have the unichip and it works quite well. Went against a few gentlemen with uprevs and basically all the same style bolt ons. it was on and off winnings between us all. And i tuned the unichip myself with the tuner kit.

I was just asking about this because a customer had asked me. Figured i'd get the DL on it from you guys.

Either way all that shows that it was a drivers race..... You can do the same thing with uprev too and plus i honestly dont think anyone uses unichip on this forum anymore. Good Luck with Tech support! lol Either way post a link to the programmer thing. Also, it better not be another remake of the bully dog thing.

Well i became a "tuner" of UniChip so getting in touch with them is fairly easy if you have the right #'s to call.

I have also installed an uprev on a G. (did not tune) It was ok till the G went Supercharged. I do not think it was the uprev, maybe just the "tuning" of it. But the guy did blow 3 motors. Problem that i saw was that the driver side cylinders were all missing prior to the explosion.

UPREV is not "istalled" but it's a "real" map that has to be changed if car components changes.
After supercharged the map is re-made ?
Off course you have to do it or a lot of parameters has changed.
3 motors blow up???
Whuauuu !!!

stock ecu settings are removed, and uprevs mapping are installed/programmed. Just like you install a program into windows.

and yes the vehicle was re mapped with new setting for the SC.

each motor had the same issue after a re mapping of each one to be sure.

But that is not my question, so lets stay on topic.

Strange for 3 blowup!!!

To stay on topic it seems good but a little "limited", may be it is less used for this...
UPREV made e-tunes based on logs of yor car so better than a "default" map like this or COBB.

I took UPREV for this, living in Italy is not possible to have "real" tunes also with it but sending logs of my car are quite a good way to tune it, not super but good...
May be that's the difference.
Anyway price is good and if you can try it and have good results...much better for you !

Good work !

personally i am not a fan of having the "stock" ecu perform any strenuous activities when although it is said that they can i doubt it was designed to do so.

a Piggy back in my mind would be more of a sufficient way to perform the crazy tasks needed.

I do not know if it was Up Rev's fault or the tuner's who knows.

all i am asking is if anyone has bought and used the Hypertech plug and play programmer...YES or NO.

Lol

People on this forum don't run 'canned' tunes loaded through a reflasher (which is all hypertech is, just like bullydog, ect). These products were designed for the average joe with a bone stock car looking for a couple extra ponies on the cheap.

In my opinion you're doing more harm to your engine loading a canned tune that wasn't designed specifically for your car/mods. If you want a tune, go to an uprev certified tuner and do it right with a full dyno tune (e.g. uprev).

I am asking for a customer. I personally do not want the thing. Just asking a simple question if anyone has it. And if it is worth the money so i can relay the info back to the customer who asked is all.

I am already done and set up with my Z. Not spending more $ on it other then regular and normal repairs and maintenance.

I already know all about the Osiris/Up Rev., Utec,Unichip,Cobb, and the flashing.
5 posts about the uprev is meaningless if im asking about another product.

if i didnt know better, i could swear your all messing with me! lol...............

With a piggyback the "stock" ECU does perform all of the activities that are required to operate the motor, strenuous or otherwise.

All the piggyback does is allow you to manipulate the MAF sensor output voltage & the crankangle sensor output to the stock ECU imputs.

At all times the motor is running on the stock ECU outputs

I would recommend slapping on a turbonator and call it a day.

Hopeless. Are you even reading posts before making one?

Specially Djamps....why did you even bother?

If none of you have the info about the "HYPERTECH" then don't even bother......Posting.

I am not asking about anything BUT the HYPERTECH.

Hilarious!

Hey,

I post mainly on G35driver, but I saw this thread, and thought I could help. I have an early ECU G35 (02/02 build date, AM604 and older ECU), and I bought a unit this summer in order to try and gain support for my calibration. There is a small contingent of early ECU G35s on G35Driver that can only get a flash tune from Technosquare or AAM, no other company can work with our awkward computer (similar to the VQ Maxima ECUs). I wanted to take the hit and try to offer another avenue for the old guys, but, unfortunately, after about 5 months of working with Hypertech, it was no longer worth their time to continue moving forward on my specific ECU. They said it would take them 1-2 weeks to reverse engineer it because it was unlike the newer ECU found in every G35/350Z since the very very early days, and they did not have the time to devote to this niche market.

This was an unfortunate for ME, but the unit still works for everyone else.

I am going to see if I can load the thing onto another G35 or 350z just for fun. It does add about 10whp/10wtq, and it's very easy to use. Hypertech is also very good in terms of customer support. They not only bought my ECU, but they made sure the calibrations was complete, the tune matched, and the only hurdle left was figuring out how the ECU communicates. If one has a problem, they will do a lot to make the customer happy. I am currently selling mine on the classifieds, but what are you customer's goals?

No its not worth. There are cheap enough alternatives that do more like the cobb AP.
