I think they can use cipher on your car....but reflashing ecu's can only be done to one car cuz the license is married to one and only one ecu? Correct me if im wrong im tryna understand this as well...

A person would have to have a tuner cable. That will give them the full access to the ecu for rom editing. For example i have a tuner cable. If I had your rom i could edit anything you wanted in it.

Problem is only the person who edited your map has your specific rom. I can not go in your car and plug my cable in and take your tune/rom. I would have to have your rom file that was edited in order to make modifications to your tune.

I hope this makes since.

Cipher can clear codes, bump idle, and timing on some cars. i have ran into issues before to where i could not change a cars timing or idle. If you do have a cable you can purchase the license for 300$ which will give you flashing capabilities for a tuner cable to modify you ecu for a tune.

my rom has never been edited, only the idle raised...

so you can just take a stock rom and edit that since I already have the license, correct?

thats correct. If i was to come to your house tomorrow. I could see what ecu number you have. Use the rom editor to change what you want, and flash it for you. ( this of course is if you have the rom file already for that ecu )

k6750gsxr contradicts Vince who claims that once a cable flashes an ECU it is married to that ECU. It is my understanding that you cannot go around flashing multiple people's ECU unless you are a pro tuner. Very confusing...

Pretty sure cable is married to the ECU in terms of rom editor. Each time you load a rom onto a 'new' ecu the license count on the cable goes down by one. Before each flash, rom editor checks the license on the ecu to make sure it's yours (so you don't lose another license)... if I'm wrong someone tell me. LOL

I have the GTM TT KIT ROM file in my ECU now, but I'm going back to stock now + exhaust and intakes.

Where can I find the "Back to Stock ROM file"?

Can I use somebody's else ROM (that has the same mods as me)?

Also will buy the Osiris Tuner version.

all i can say is that I used Raj's cipher cable to reflash my car with no issues.

I dont know where the license is stored, but its not in the cable.

I think you have to save the original rom from your ECU before you flashed it. It wouldnt make sense if you could use a generic rom cuz then there wouldnt need to be all those ecu variations.

Uprev send usually if you ask back-to-stock files.
You can put a file of someone else if it's for the EXACT same ECU number.
IMHO !

Uprev licenze is in the cable and after first write tranferred on ECU.
Usually you don't have tu dump your rom, Uprev have quite all in database.
So they use the right one to start tuning...

Just to clarify (before Rich gets me in trouble), Rich has paid for a flash already (from a pro tuner) so this should not violate the UpRev TOU. I guess if someone has paid for a reflash, they can be reflashed again without issue (i.e. the cable can verify that the ECU is licensed appropriately).

Raj, i dont think that there would be any other way to be able to reflash a non-licensed ECU.

^ and as long as the cable has been flashed to an ECU at least once. This moves the license from the cable to the ECU. Then that cable can flash any licensed ECU. If you take a brand new cable and flash an ECU, I think you will overwrite the license on the ECU with the cable license and then you will never be able to flash a stock ECU again. The only time you can flash a stock ECU (using a non-pro tuner license) is with a brand new cable (that has one license on it).

Everyone of your basic *** questions have been answered thousands of times. Using !!!! doesnt alert us to an emergency. You may get a CEL with HFC's. Some do, some dont. And yes you should get a tune with HFC's or TP's.
