Default Timing question

How many degrees of timing are you guys running? I mean how much is safe, I know that my Subaru can run 20*-21*... just trying to get a feel for it so I have a starting point.

timing is not a fixed thing, it's dynamic based on load, rpm, etc

you would need to log the car, check the AFR's with a wideband, and tweak from there

i understand that but at what point is enough too much you know. I know that my friends Evo will start to eat itself past about 18 or 19 degrees of advance.

stock, the car will run over 25* at WOT

boosted conservative is 12-14*
mid 15-17*
high 17*+

run C16 you could prolly push 20*

but like Adam said, its all setup dependent. You will usually run out of octane before you push past MBT (unless you are on race gas or E85)

thanks man, thats what i was looking for. I dont plan on putting the car on race gas or E85... for now so i'll keep things conservative and run in the 14-15 range.

At full boost my logs indicate 15 - 18 depending on RPM. Stock block by the way... built block with lower compression you can run more.
