Default Uprev Tuned 2003 Dyno Results

Last week I took my Z down to the guys at Uprev in Austin to get tuned. After a long battle getting my nitrous setup installed properly (see: https://my350z.com/forum/nitrous-oxi...-solenoid.html ) I was confident that it would put down some decent numbers and I was not disappointed.

260whp/245wtq NA after tuning, with gains realized throughout the entire powerband. Even better were the numbers on the bottle: 310whp/356wtq! Here is a list of my mods:

Zex 75 shot wet kit (with automatic bottle warmer @1000psi, zex window switch, purge, and NGK 1 step colder plugs)
JWT Pop Charger
Motordyne 5/16" plenum spacer
Motordyne ART pipes
HR Y-pipe
STOCK midpipe and muffler
Uprev tune

Below is a dyno graph showing baseline, tuned NA, and nitrous runs. We tuned the throttle tip-in to alleviate the lean condition and associated power loss upon nitrous activation and ended up enriching the AFR to 11.7, so the final nitrous numbers were slightly lower, but much safer.

Big thanks to Omar and the guys at Uprev for doing a great job! Very professional and definitely worth the 9 hour road trip.

I love the sound that the ART pipes give me with the stock muffler, and don't want something too loud. I considered a Stillen TD system, but for the price I think I'll sacrifice the ~5whp it would give me. Obviously considering my results vs. others who have full exhausts, the stock midpipe and muffler are not that restrictive.

Very nice.

I'm about to do something very similar to the 03 that I just picked up. I'm going to start out with a 125 or 150 shot depending on what chance I have of keeping traction when it first hits. My goal is to keep it around the 390wtq range when it hits, so I have a progressive nitrous controller in case I need to the nitrous on a bit slower ramp to keep traction and stay below 400 tq (caution Paul Walker, danger to manifold). I'm using Uprev Tuner and my breather mods are similar to yours, so it's good to see your dyno results for comparison.

Great job. Enjoy it, and stay safe!

Can get the Borla system, just ordered mine, its not too loud. Think theyve gained around 8 or 9 whp

Yeah, the primary reason I didn't step up to a 100 or 125 shot was due to the fact that I still have the stock clutch and flywheel and I'm not going with progressive control.

Also, for those who may be wondering, all runs were conducted in 4th gear.

Here is a quick video of one of the nitrous pulls. You can hear it engage a split second after the car goes WOT.

Yep, I'm trying to make my decision on clutch and flywheel, but I'm planning on doing a swap within a year - so that complicates how much I want to spend right now (for 6-9 months of use). I already have the diff, plugs, and fuel pump upgrades about to go in, so I've got most of the basics covered. I want to get used to the feel of the VQ on nitrous, because I expect similar numbers NA after the swap. Baby steps...

I love it. I can definitely hear the second hit. How is traction when it kicks in?

Traction with the crappy Dunlop DZ101 245s I had in the rear at the time wasn't great. The tires would break loose slightly when engaging in third gear at 3300rpm on the highway. However, I just put new Michelin Pilot Super Sport 255s on, but haven't sprayed with them yet. I have yet to do a 2nd gear pull also, but I'll let you know once I do.

o.p. I bet you have about 5-7hp sitting on the table if you do a Y-pipe back system and re-tune..

I know, I will consider exhaust in the future, but I am quite happy with it for now.

Also, for those wondering, the Michelin Super Sports are AWESOME! Tons of traction, and I have yet to find their lateral limit. Pretty sure I'm going to need to track it in order to safely find the limit. They hold traction without a peep while spraying in second gear too.

good numbers overall. never seen anyone tune a nitrous car so lean. the richer the better for no2. ask your tuner to get it back on the dyno and tune it for 10.8 to 11.0 at least.
