Default Haltech Platinum Pro and E85 Flex Fuel Sensor

I have been searching everywhere for how ppl with the old platinum pro tuned with E85 and used GM flex fuel sensor ..

Cant find any details on the GM sensor used, if it was stressful as using the Plug in and Haltech flex fuel sensor...

I have a Utec which im wanting to upgrade as it can only do straight E85 but as soon as other fuel is mixed the tune wont work...

Will the Haltech Platinum Pro be in the same situation? For <500RWHP should i bother upgrading to haltech platinum pro if it cant tune mixed E85?

Thanks guys

the older model haltech has no inputs for any flex fuel sensor.

It is no different than the UTEC. You must buy the ECU replacement Haltech or a Proefi128/ Motec/ AEM Infinity/ Vipec/ Link G4 if you want true flex fuel capabilities.

If you run E85 on every single fillup, then you can use any EMS.

Thanks str8dum1, so the others using the haltech sport ems some how used a gm flex sensor but i guess the platnium pro (considered to be better than the others u listed?) will not. I have never heard of those so no one here can tune them... Looks like E85 will have to be a expensive change..

It would cost me min $800 to upgrade to the platnium pro (older) haltech over utec.. is it worth it?

the sport ems's are a generic box. The platinum pros are specific boxes for the 350z. if you can get a harness for the sport box, that offers alot more features than the Z specific one.

if your car runs fine on the UTEC, i wouldnt change anything.

Utec i have has not been tuned yet.. Tuner said he will give it a go but never done one before.. I like the utec with all the knock control and stuff - so once tuned for 500or less HP it will be stable and as good as haltech?

The Sport 2000, is that easily available and to get a DE harness?

no the haltech is still going to be light years ahead of the utec just on software alone imo the sport 2000 is going to require you to cut and splice into harness there isnt one for a DE engine

Does the proefi 48 have E85 Flex fuel capabilities? Or just the 128? My understanding is that the 128 will not work with an auto just like the new standalone haltech. If so I need to get rid of my haltech for a proefi ems

Just buy the newest haltech standalone and then get the sensor.

I love the haltech and run e85 with mine but there is no way to run flexfuel to change maps and such with the old haltech. Due to that i have a pump gas map and e85 map. If i happen to run out of e85 and can't find any I can switch over but I wo'nt boost on the pump gas map.

The new flex fuel is nice but currently my car drives great so it's not worth me selling mine, losing money and upgrading. Since you do'nt have one yet just get the stand alone and call it quits. If that's what your tuner uses it is a no brainer anyways.

Either will work with FF but you have to buy the sensor. I think the 48 pin requires another adapter you need to purchase with the sensor as well. When I looked into it the cost of the 48 pin with the adapter and sensor was getting close to the price of the 128.

I am pretty sure both will work on auto or manual transmissions but I don't have experience with automatics so don't quote me on that.
