Default Don't update osiris!!

OMFG. If you haven't used osiris software in a while DON'T let the updater run!! It updated the firmware on my cable. Now cipher is irretrievably gone. I deleted new installation, deleted all references to uprev in windows registry, installed old version of osiris, and none of the software works - won't detect cable. Cable firmware update is obviously to blame.

Don't let anyone fool you - cipher functionality in new all-in-one software is way less than old stand alone app. I've lost access to some features that were part of the reason I bought osiris to begin with. In other words, I paid for things and uprev stole them. Uprev is on my **** list now. I'm pissed.

To make matters (much) worse, new software won't let me flash or even edit any of my "old" ROMs because it claims ECU base file is out of date. Pure BS. I can find no substantive difference between "new" base file and old. And what about everyone who has been running "old" base file successfully for years? What's the problem uprev? I had big library of maps - all useless now.

Thanks for this. Unfortunately, it's too late for me.

But if possible, since you have an older installation file, could you install it in another laptop that's never had Uprev programs? That might work.

No, that's not possible as far as I can tell - the cable firmware "update" that was forced to be installed by the updated osiris software disallows the cable to be used with all older software.

Ah missed that but understood. Only thing I could think is to reach out to them for possible work around. The fact that all your older ROMs are no longer compatible should be enough for them to do something. Really makes no sense for them to push that type of Firmware update without making it optional.

I read something along the lines of uprev having been ****ed, not proper ****ed, but ****ed nonetheless.
What does it all mean? What features have been lost and what other issues are there?

Cipher has been gone for a long time. You can do everything important with the Rom Editor.

When they released the ARC features they had to push a major update to ALL the Z/G rom files, and no you can't flash the old ones anymore. They can still be viewed in rom editor however, so all you or your tuner has to do is copy the tuned tables into the updated rom and you're good to go.

As much as it does suck never updating software or trying to use outdated software is never a good answer...

I personally check for updates everytime I load up Rom Editor. And if I get codes, once I read them I clear them. No that hard.

Anyone know if it's possible to have old DTC codes that were disabled, turned back on? I used to have an exemption from emissions being away from home in the military, and had the DTC codes turned off to avoid an engine light.

However, now I'm back in my home state and will need to run the car through emissions. Plan is to use the mechanical spacer/non-fouler method, but I'll need the O2 sensors to be in a ready state.

You will need to contact whoever did the tune originally, or if you were to retune it the original tune would be overwritten

also you lose the ability to turn off DTC with the update.

https://my350z.com/forum/tuning/6142...es-by-law.html

I should really hold off on software and firmware updates... I have ART pipes and was going to try to run without downstream o2 cause i think they are messing up my AFR. Now I cant turn off the those DTC codes. Maybe someone here can help me out?

Ouch! yea for sure Uprev did the right thing and did what they had to do. I think that really kills off any hope of them bringing those features back.

There are no emission law here where I live so i am still looking for someone to help me disable those codes, please PM me if anyone can help me out. Thanks!

The emissions laws are federal, not local. That's why the EPA is involved. Whether your local area tests or not depends on the state and county...but the actual LAW, is the same
