At my wits end here. I've barely been able to connect to my car to upload tunes and data log. I contacted Uprev support, and they told me to turn off all anti-virus/malware/firewalls etc. Check for updates and current .net frame work. Did all of that and still nothing. I have tried 3 different cables. Reboot, plug/unplug... heck even tried safe mode in Windows, still nothing. Then I just wasted half my day doing a fresh install of Windows 10 and updated everything all over again... Still ****** nothing... just stupid cable not connected message. Anybody got any other tricks I can try before I send Uprev support yet another email? I have a two piece cable and until recently it had been used maybe a dozen times. It shouldn't be this hard... ugh
Yeah I have the two piece design. I was told by Uprev support I could use any usb cable to connect to the dongle and I've tried using 3 different cables. I also installed rom editor on my desktop computer and still nothing. Just emailed support again this morning.
Good sir, I would find a friend with with Z or G and see if you can connect to their car. If you can its a problem with your ODB2 port or ECU. If it is still unable to connect its a problem with your dongle.

That's a good suggestion. I don't know anyone else here with either... because I'm anti-social AF. But I put up some posts in my localish Facebook Z&G groups to see if I can find someone.

I THINK it will connect with any car that has a DE in it. @seymore4 Do you know what all vehicles up rev can talk with?
The problem the OP has is Rom Editor (his computer) detecting the cable. NOT connecting to the car's ECU. If the software won't detect the cable you can plug it into a million cars and it still won't work.
With the older 2 piece cables the OBD2 dongle is the important part, the USB cable part is generic and can be swapped out. IF you already did this and have tried different computers then its the cable.
To answer the other questions the cable will communicate with any 2003 and newer Nissan or Infiniti

Thanks, I also just tried my generic obd2 code reader... and it still connects to the car and gives data. So that should rule out a bad obd2 port or ecu issue.
If the cable is not detected by the computer, don't even bother plugging it into any vehicles it will never detect the ECU.
When Rom Editor says "cable not detected" at the top it is not registering the cable and the problem is the cable or your computer.
When it switches to "searching for ECU" then the cable is registering with the computer and its looking for the ECU. At that point if it won't detect the ECU there's either a problem with the vehicle, or the cable.
