Okay,

Maybe we should confer... I've spent ages on the gov website trying to get a decent reg for my new Z. Kept getting told that I couldn't have a 'Z' in the reg.

Where did you order the reg from? I've got a couple of ideas of what I want on it - yours is obviously not too far off what I'm after.

I think I found one! and 'erm very similar to yours actually...

Thanks for the heads up!

I'll give them a bell tomorrow.

Do you have any idea of how the dealer will handle us adding our own plates? Guess I could just give him a call.

When you order your plate you will be sent a "Certificate of Entitlement" & you will have already paid the £80 assignment fee.

All you do is fill in as many details as you can (say, in September) & give the documents to your dealer. They should do the rest.

Once you've bought it - post your reg. no. here (I think I know which one you will go for)

Default Am I that obvious?

Thanks to Veilside explaining a few things about the system, I've gone and bought my own reg... been trying to do this for months, but couldn't get the right combination and get a Z on the end... until now...

Strangely similar to Veilsides reg too

I probably would have gone for that one, but I went through the options backwards and saw the T option first.

Shame that my initials weren't available, like you suggested, as I'd have really liked that.

ps. still not heard anything from Nissan and its' gone 2pm! I thought I'd get a call today...

Hold on a second...

they haven't released the 53 registrations for sale yet!!!!!

They will be on the market about June 2003, so if you want your initials it's still possible. Check with the DVLA first though.

On a couple of other points:

Still waiting on the call

Been to Guildford this afternoon

I couldn't wait... had to do it... just waiting for the documentation to come through now... she gave me some legal stuff first, probably something about not defacing the reg, but couldn't quite hear her on my mobile

Default Altering plates

Hi folks,

As regarding the personalised plates again. Thinking about getting one very similar to you guys. How do you manage to get hold of plates which are slightly altered for cosmetic purposes. I thought they were extremely strict on that where you buy them now. Was thinking about getting my dealer to put the plate on for me, but if I can get it slightly altered might do that instead.

How dyo reckon a **03 SOZ plate would look as per norm (without alterations)? Would it be readable as 350Z?

Also, anyone reckon It'll hold it's money, or even make money when you sell it?

Cheers,
350zuk

The plate would look something like this...

Standard doctoring would make it look like this...

A bit more....

You'll find most plate makers will do this for you if you ask nice (they're not really supposed to). Though some shops have the new computerised machines, which print the plate, making it impossible for the shop to mod (don't ask halfords).
Try your local privately run car shop.

There are a few companies that will make 'show' plates for you, like Veilside Z's, though it would be illegal to display them on the road.
If you've ever had that feeling, when the cops are sitting behind you. Well it's ten times worse when you know that your plate is a bit 'different'. So best leaving the rear plate standard spec!

As for holding it's money... You'll probably recoup your cash + intrest. But it might take a while to find a buyer...
That reminds me... Anyone looking to buy a plate?

I have C2UPE (coupe?) & L60NEY (looney?) on retention
Any offers?

Anyway, I guess I'll add my plate to the list....

Hassle Free....
