Default Insurance Group

Does anyone know the insurance groupings for the 350Z in the UK? Could it be any worse than my TT?

Comment from my insurance company...

"You what, what's car?"

"A Nissan 350Z, it's new, out in October"

"Never heard of it, give us a call later in the year"

Oh well!

My bet is - higher than TT insurance

I also have a TT at the moment but was hoping that the insurance group would be the same or slightly lower for the 350Z.
My theory is that although the Z will be faster and better power/weight ratio etc., this will be offset by cheaper repair costs (Nissan parts have to be cheaper than Audi dont they?). Probably totaly wrong, but I'm hoping for a pleasant surprise come renewal time.

BTW, I've just renewed my insurance for the TT. Got a great deal through eSure - £444.20 instead of the £996 quoted by my previous insurer (Eagle Star).

I had a look at this before, and the best I could compare against was the new TT... got quoted around £883.

I had a look through elephant.co.uk. I would have tried esure, but their website doesn't seem to work on anything except Internet Explorer... and as we are a UNIX house, no way to use ie here matey!

Remind me to check the The Association Of British Insurers website every week or two. Though I think it may be left up to the individual insurer to decide.

My Honda S2000 is group 20 D and I was hoping the Z would not be any higher.

Judging by the very low quote of £444.27 quoted for the TT, I would assume that the TT is a much lower insurance group.
Must be something to do with the higher production rate and the lower performance

In answer to the original question, I would assume the Z would be nearer to the S2k ins. group and be higher than the TT.

Well, as part of renewing my policy on my current car, I asked for a quote on a Z. Here's what I was quoted:

£1215!!!! fully comprehensive without protection

That's at 32, with six years no claims, no convictions, garaged, 10,000 miles annual mileage.

Also stipulated a Thatcham Cat 1/2 alarm/immobiliser (do we know the specification of the Nissan alarm/immobiliser?) and a Tracker device.

My Chimaera is only £700!

Has anyone else had any quotes? Maybe I'll do some shopping around

Was that definitely for a UK car, not a grey import?

It's still 100 quid under what I'm paying on my Scooby!

I didn't specify it as being an import, but due to getting an early quote, they may have assumed that.

Just wondered if anyone else has had any luck in getting quotations for this car, and if so how much?

My Almera GTi has a NATS 2.0 security system. This is rated as Thatcham Cat 1... so the Z has to have at least that.

I did notice the NATS stickers on the Windows at Brands Hatch.
