Enter the car show if you want to show your car.

Depending on where your cabin is......really depends on if you want to walk. For instance I have to walk about 30 feet from our cabin where the car show and everything else is. Other cabin locations, there's no way in hell I'd walk. It gets pretty crowded during the show on Sat. and I'm not sure what you consider "close-by" as.

They have golf carts for rent as well. It's the best kept secret IMO.......Makes it nice getting around the resort.

We had the "golf cart of death" last year......

Hi, folks! Next week, many of you will be descending on Fontana, Deals Gap, and Tail of the Dragon for ZDayZ 2007. The staff of ZDayZ will be heading that way sooner (some as early as this Saturday!) to get ready for your arrival. So, this is you last update prior to arriving at ZDayZ. Please read carefully.

ZDayZ – Before You Arrive
Things to do before you leave for ZDayZ:
  • Conduct a safety inspection on your car. Ensure it is ready for mountain driving.
  • Be sure to pack roadside repair items… tools, fluids, etc. Better to not need them and have them than to ned them and not have them.
  • Pack items for ZDayZ activites. Cleaning and detailing products if you are entering the car show. A hose and bucket is not a bad idea, either. A folding chair if you plan to hang out onsite a lot. And do not forget to bring a tacky, obnoxious, loud shirt for our Cra-Z Shirt Contest!
  • Make sure you have a good set of directions to Fontana Village. It is not difficult to find, but if you have not been before you will begin to wonder if you have driven too far into nowhere. Chances are you have not. Use zip code 28733 for your mapquest directions and you should be fine.
  • Pre-print the Welcome Packet available on our website on this page… http://www.zdayz.com/!white_burgandy/wht_newsletter.htm
  • When in doubt, contact a ZDayZ veteran. They will be able to provide additional tips to prepare for the event.
ZDayZ Check-In
When you arrive at ZDayZ, you should do the following things…
  • Check Into Your Hotel – Proceed to the Fontana Village Lodge and check-in to the resort (if you are offsite, go to where you are staying and check-in there)
  • Unpack – Unpack your car and settle into your room.
  • Check Into ZDayZ – Come to the Fontana Village Recreation Hall. This is the large building in the center of the resort, just below the Lodge. There should be a lot of banners and signs out identifying ZDayZ, our sponsors, etc. Just inside the Rec Hall, there will be registration desk. At the Registration Desk:
  • If you are not registered, proceed to an available computers and register.
  • Give the Registration Desk staff your name
  • If you have not paid, be prepared to pay the Registration Desk staff.
  • Receive your ZDayZ namebadge. IMPORTANT! Your badge is your access to all things ZDayZ. Keep it with you at all times!!!
  • If you are one of our designated club contacts, pick special items for sponsor clubs.
  • Pick up ZDayZ check-in packet and other items available at the registration table.
  • Check the schedule of events and figure out when and where you need to be places.
  • Please be patient! We have a lot of attendees to check in and will be as quick as possible.
  • Start enjoying ZDayZ!

  • Busy Roads!
If possible, arrive before ZDayZ starts to get some good clean runs on the Dragon. Despite our best efforts, there is always a crowd when we are there. We schedule our event long before anyone else lays claim to the same weekend in May, but cannot prevent them from selecting the same week afterwards.

By information available on www.TailoftheDragon.com, there will be no less than 8 motorcycle groups and 3 other car groups in Deals Gap while ZDayZ is going on! Needless to say, we’re not thrilled about this and you should not be either, but what can you do. One silver lining is the Poker Run on Friday takes folks well away from the Dragon most of the day and may lead to some exploration of other, less traveled roads during the rest of the weekend. Another plus… if you are fan of sports cars, one of the conflicting groups is the Ferrari Cup Challenge. So, it may be an opportunity to actually *park* roadside on the Dragon and see some fantastic cars you may not otherwise see. The Ferraris have their Dragon Run scheduled for Friday.

    ZDayZ Performance Forum!
Finally, I’d like to take this opportunity to announce another new activity for ZDayZ 2007. Saturday, there will be a panel discussion on Z-car performance, modifications, and upgrades. All ZDayZ attendees are encouraged to attend. Question forms will be available at the Registration Deskt to submit questions to be asked during the Performance Forum. We will select as many questions as possible from those submitted to pose to our panel of experts. Each expert will have a set amount of time to weigh in on each question. Toward the end of the session, audience members will be allowed to ask questions directly to the various panelists.

We ask all questions be geared toward Z performance, modifications, and so forth. Questions requiring judgment of a particular business or product (for example “Who would you have install a TT kit?” or “Which intake is the best?”) will not be allowed. Similarly, questions about stock setups and Z-car history will be discouraged except where they pertain to enhancing Z-car performance. Mostly, we want this to be a fun, interactive session. Where else are you going to have access to some of the top Z tuners and part vendors in one place!

At this time, we have confirmed three panelists for the Performance Forum… Doug Stewart from Crawford Z Car Service, Russell Floyd from Z1 Motorsports, and Sharif Abdelbaset from Forged Internals. Others may be added prior the Forum.

    Thank You Again!
We cannot say it enough and will surely repeat it at ZDayZ, but the organizing staff and I want to thank everyone who makes ZDayZ such a great event… all our supporting clubs; the great vendor sponsors who contribute their time and prize donations; Fontana Village for hosting the event; the great people of Fontana, Deals Gap, and Robbinsville who constantly tolerate the antics of groups such as ours; and… most of all… everyone who attends ZDayZ. Four years ago, we could not imagine ZDayZ would take off like it did, but we could not be prouder of the tradition we have established and all the friends we have made. ZDayZ 2007 isn’t quite here yet and we are already looking forward to putting together our 5th Anniversary event for you! See you next week!

Would there be any charge to just come in to check out the show on Saturday? I live within driving distance and was thinking about driving up for the day. I hadn't planned on participating in any events or staying overnight.

My reservation is confirmed-I took over somebody who was unable to make it. I'll be there Thursday around 7pm! If you see me, say something. BTW-are there bars, liquor stores or any highways around where if we wanted to we could go out and catch a run or two?

As of last year . . .they do sell beer now in the area, and they have liquor by the drink at the resort but it is a "dry county" and there no liquor stores within an hour drive I would say. So do what we do . . . bring everything you can! Once the sunsets, its one big party up there. Dont be left out!
