Well mine are just the Kumho XS's (not race tires, but pretty good)

I think the XS's come in a bunch of 17 sizes, up in the 3XX range.
Most folks I know that went from the MX to the XS don't like them as much, what do you think of them?

17's.

I have a pick from when I mounted my worn-out rear tires on my front 8.5" wheels. It is a tight fit on both sides, but I tested it on the track and I had no rubbing issues.

Here is the inside, with a lug nut for perspective...

The XS's are the best tire I have ran on my Z.

Like the MX's, they don't like it cold, but they have more grip at all temps than the MX's. The sidewall is much better too. Not stiff like the 615's, but still "sharp". No need for the sky-high psi's I use to run in the MX's.

I will have to get a picture, I can not fit a finger between the tire and spindle. It is pretty tight.

Don't know much about the NT-05s, but if the Azenis you are looking at are the 615's, I'm not a fan.

Cool, what are your hot pressures? still high 30s or are you running lower. My problem with the MX was my driving style, I'm a slider and they'll do that for a bit but even starting at high 20s my hot pressures were near mid 40s sometimes high 40s and they were like ice. by the time the XS came out I was on hoosiers and the like. If I need a good set of street tires again I'll look at the XS's. actually I might look at them for the lemons car, they are 200 grip right?

+1, if you can drive, then you will drive the grip right off of them. Way to allergic to heat for my taste. I've had one set and well, I've had one set.

Also don't know anything about the NT05.

Just curious as to why not? Biggest issue I have with the other tires are they don't come in 255s

I'll probably get NT05s when I upgrade to Volks, my friend has them and seems to like them alot.

no need to get a finger in there, there are better places to put your fingers. it is fine, really I can barely get a thin screwdirver between mine, and no rubbing yet.

lol but I don't plan on doing any tracking with them to be honest. I can't imagine me getting them hot enough although I've heard about them being crap when they get high in temperature.

if Z1ONLY is who I remember him to be he too is a track *****. Those tires are perfect for an AutoX, where you are in and off in less than a minute. Even the AutoXers have to sprey them with water cause they get so hot when run hard. so hot they lose their grip an just become dangerous. I was sliding into braking zones, couldn't put any power out of the turns, could barely turn the car, it was quite miserable.

DISCLAIMER: this was just my experience with these tires, I do not claim to be an expert.

180 treadwear.

I haven't ran the 285/275 combo on the track yet but the 275/255 setup I have been running works well with 31-33 rear and 40-42 front. (hot)

I like to leave the tires alone when I'm done at the track and let them cool down to find my cold psi. Well that was a problem last time because we had a cold snap a couple days later, and when I went to drive the Z, the low-psi warning lit up on my dash.... 28psi IIRC.

then why go for such a low compound? get a higher compound that will last longer. they do have a funky tread if you want the appearance, but honestly the KDW tread is cooler looking, IMO.

Pretty much the same things I've heard. Hmmm, considering I'd like to autox some more this Summer I may just get the NT05s in 245 vs. 255 Azenis just to be safe

hmm, when I was talking to the Kuhmo rep, he stated that they were for SCCA street tire classes (200 compound).

I ahve a buddy running a 275/275 setup and he ain't liking them. I'll what his starting pressures are in June at CMP, he might be getting them greasy. but that sound like the MX pressures I was running. IDK, tires are like wmoen, that is why they so many many different styles and sizes, we all have our taste in them.

Blasian, I wouldn't touch another set of 615s unless I was drifting, and then my metro could spin them once they got hot. it is the 1.0 L metro that couldn't pull a greasy string out of a bucket of water.

They overheated too soon for me too.

I think that's me, but I still haven't done the road course thing...yet. I do at least two days of autocrossing/month sometimes 4 or more. And our venue is a bit fast for autocrossing, the courses are about a mile long and often have me deep in third...just before I have to stand the car on her nose for a turn.

Blue Z, skinny blond wife, (BTW, she started autocrossing and she is the fastest novice I have ever seen.)
