I made the drive down yesterday. There were TONS of cops on I75 from Toledo to Knoxville. No significant areas of construction except for Dayton so the drive for the folks from Michigan and Canada should be good. Keep it slow around Lexington. (Esp near exit 110) and watch the downhill speeds at Jellico, TN.

(In Knoxville for the holiday.) I can see the mountains from here and I'm itchin' to get up there. Had a drizzle of rain this morning but it didn't do anything. It just made the air nice and cool for lot's of power.

I'll spend a couple days with the 'fam then two days of business in Newberry, SC. I really look forward to meeting everyone on Thursday! If I can get up there early, I'll give you a heads up Bryan. I'd be happy to help out where I can.

10s, R compounds are generally much wider than a street tire, and with the stiffer sidewall I don't expect any drama

Hey, anyone from TN or anyone that goes thru TN on I40 remember the road construction that had part of the highway shut down last year? I think it was thru Knoxville......kinda hung me up for a minute having to re-route. Anyone know if that **** is over with or if I will need to detour again? Since I'm flying solo on Wednesday....I'd rather know up front so I can plan a different route thru the city!!!! THANKS!

I know TN is keeping all lanes open for the holiday weekend itself but that won't help you, I guess. You can dial 511 in TN to get road conditions, etc from the state DOT. I guess after reading Phreaks post above, we had all better watch out tomorrow - I hate traveling on a holiday, but this time, will be worth it. Leaving at 11 and I guess we'll just set the speed at 70-75 and get there when we get there.

If it is, the rout we took for the detour was west on I40 to west on I640 for about 3 miles, then south on I275 then back west on I40 for about 3/4 of a mile till you get to us129/115.

Looks like it is still shut down till June 11th

So get this, yesterday, i started hearing some strange scraping sound near my air conditioner compressor. Then it got louder with a ticking sound. Then stopped i was looking under the hood and couldn't figure out what it was. Weird huh, well at the same time, my wife says, hey the air conditioner stopped working.

The damn compressor went out. I have gone into urgent mode, picked up a new compressor, currently I am pulling the turbo all its components to get them out of the way and then pulling the compressor. I hope I get this done before thursday.

My damn luck.

I would personally no even bother going towards Knoxville. Go the other way on I40, East. Nicer roads and don't have to go near Knoxville.

Yeah but how much time is that adding to my already 9 hour trip? I am NOT looking to make it any longer......lol.....nice roads no construction or not if it adds more than 20 mins it's not worth it to me lol....especially since I'm traveling solo....

Well it is definitely longer, maybe 30 mins? But it is less hassle and I bet you haven't been on that side of the park -- some awesome roads and different than the Dragon since we will be on that for a couple of days. That is the way I am going and my trip is way longer than 9 hrs. Well, not really because I am breaking it up. 7.5 hrs on Tues, 7.5 hrs on Weds.

Worse comes to worse you come with no AC. Windows open right and the high will only be around 80.

According to google maps, it is about 10 minutes longer to go on the south side of the Smokey mountain park.

See if this works, apparently google gives you alternate routes now.
