TDOT estimates that the slide will be cleared on March 26th. The Dragon is closed from the lake to the TN / NC state line.

My only guess as to why he didn't see the slide was its being right after a curve? Either way, there's really no excuse. The LEO's probably had a sign or something telling people to slow down ahead of time.
