Effffin A... That long stretch looks longer than Mid-Ohio which already I have time to bust out a laptop browse some youporn and still have enough time to get on the brakes before the turn...

What about that kart track to the north west side can I just run that all day? I'll see what I can do. Don't know if I'm feeling the 12+ hour drive from Michigan to run the poor kart for a few hours on the track then through the dragon a couple times and on the way back home

Normally I just trailer the Lotus to track days in case of "knock on wood never happened" an incident...

don't be a wuss, I'll push you down the long straight (and have plenty of time to lap you and do it again the next lap) dooo eeeeeeeet.

I always trailer mine, and this year it is a solid ten hours each way for me, since I have moved to Wilmington, NC.

If not deployed I plan on attending from Fayetteville NC. Finally will not be on the other side of the world during one of these. Only question is about bringing wife and kids? Kids are small (3 and smaller) and I am leaning towards leaving them home unless there are some neat things to occupy them at the event or around the area.

Excuses already???
1) 12+ hour drive: You're driving too slow! Our caravan ran an average of 80mph. (Yes, quite often over 80.) Be sure to ride with us this year.

2) Thursday Event: I suggest we all plan to caravan on Wednesday to FVR. You can get some sleep, let the car rest and prep for the track before heading out. You need one of those tiny race trailers to hold tools, race tires and wheels.

3) Thanks for setting this up! I like the Airstrip event but I think a lot of NA folks were not keen on attending. Maybe we will get lucky and still have both events. (Fingers crossed)

The resort has two swimming pools and a lazy river. There are two restaurants, a couple bars a general store with ice cream shop. Lots of open ground to run and play or go for walks. Bring a stroller.

I'm sure the kids would have a great time. FVR is very kid friendly.

I hope you can make it. If not, thanks for your service to this great nation!

Since little kids need naps, I suggest getting a cabin near the back or stay at the lodge.

Thanks for the info. Nap time is key. Unhappy tired wife and kids = Fail. I am leaning towards leaving them all home. Is there usually a large number of wives / kids?

I can go ahead and give you guys a tip... unlike most tracks where the track is "hot" no later than 8:30... this track isn't going to allow cars on track until 9:00. While that sucks cause it basically removes about an hour of track time for everyone, it's good in that the driver's meeting won't have to start at 7:00am (more likely 8:00) so you won't have to wake up QUITE as early.

Well, there tends to be a large number of wives in my room during, then a large number of kids born roughly 9 months later.

does that count?

Undoubtedly. Wives who find themselves uninterested in automobiles need an outlet to help ease tensions to ensure husbands enjoy stress free driving. What room will you be staying in? Alcoholic beverage of choice?

Sheeeet! The entire point of ZdayZ is the looooong uncomfortable "unintended" man touching between a guy that's 5'8 and a 6'5 dude that has to take his shoes off to shift in my tiny car... It's no fun if I pack up the DANGO and the lotus trailer to bring it on down... The ride would be comfortable with air condition, speakers that work, and seats that don't make you feel like you lost your boyscout virginity..

My car feels like it's going to explode at the speeds you guys were doing back north... Plus I lose my amazing 35+ mpg going over 80 ... Kk I'll talk to Trevor and if he's down for heading down early I'll head down early and do the frigin massively long and unfun track day and I won't even think about touching the lap times of the crazy experienced southern boys down there... This event would only be my 22nd track day. And I'm used to Waterford where if your not on your brakes your in a steer!

Although Mid-Ohio has become my new favorite track just cuz I find it entertaining to watch the big HP boys fly by me in the long kink then be on their *** till after carosel... Then I let them go ontheir way again.

we do run a family friendly event. I have seen a decline over the past couple of years of children and tots, but there are some still there. It has turned into quite a party environment over the past few years too. They are more than welcome, and there are fun things to do and see that are not car dependent, walking trails, shopping and gambling in Cherokee/Pigeon Forge, etc....

Will be tough to do both. bad news unless Stack relaxes his rules roadies don't get to go on track, but I'll work on him. we did it at ZCON, maybe we can do it for ZdayZ.

For the track event, are roadsters allowed? I'm 5' 16" so the OE roll hoop is not higher than my head let alone with a helmet.

Depends the track Brian I know most of the events I run won't allow it unless the roads is caged...

I felt bad after... But when the green laser giant and I had a solid buzz going on we decided the pool was a good idea. During that time while buzzed it seemed like a hilarious idea to put all the tubes and floatation devices in the lazy river and watch them jam up... I left a good tip on the cabin table that should have covered the few minutes of extra work I left for some poor person at Fontana Village. They are good people... Felt bad after. lol

Mid-Ohio has a lot of everything. Slow turns, 3D, power straights... We'll see about your southern track...

Too early to tell. Need to chat with stack on this. Normally the answer is no. But I can argue this both ways. Give me until early next week and ill have an answer for you.
