ZDAYZ 2011 (May 19-22, 2011)

Doesn't matter how many track days I've done or helped instruct... I will always try to find a local that knows the course to ride with me to let me know their aiming points etc. More helpful than blindly driving the course for how many sessions to find the sweet spots

Russ dood what happened to the Z? This is Joe from AL we used to do Auto-X at Hunt Stage field.

Joe! I wondered where you went.
I've still got the Z and I'm here in Wilmington now.
No wai! I have equipped the miata with a superspec motor designed for flat out speeds.

I laughed out loud at this! Reminded me of a video where they did those two bears talking to each other (like the one the best buy employee made and got fired) about track days... I've never found miata guys being dick heads. I've found a couple stereotype drivers but nothing as bad as car meets... Car meets really shine for the stereotype drivers. Before ZdayZ I always wanted to shoot myself when ever talking to fellow 350z owners in Michigan. Them and Camaro owners... But ZdayZ brings enthusiasts that's why I love it! People that are happy to talk cars not brag

normally I'd jack slap you for saying that, but it is a miata, no other choice but to drive it flat out. As far as who's zooming who, we'll see about that

Thursday May 19th ZdayZ and Asphalt Ventures will be teaming together to bring you AMP, Atlanta Motorsports Park. Derek, it has some high speed sections (which we will blow you doors off) and some technical sections in which you might have a snow ball's chance of keeping up
ZdayZ and AV are still in process discussions of how to pull this off, but deffinately on the schedule. this is a new facility and they promise to open in time. It is a nice two hour or so drive from Fontana Village so it is possible to stay in FVR and attend this event. again we are still working on the logistics of rules, regulations, and registration. But mark you calendars! you have been warned.

So if one did not want to do a HPDE, it would just be best to get lodge reservations for Fri and Sat night, bacuase that is what I did ? Or are there other activities planned for thursday.

Heck, I found 7 drivers willing to get out of bed at zero-dark-thirty so we could take a shot at being the first cars on the Dragon. (This was during the rock-slide "arrangements")
ZdayZ could be considered a drinking party with a driving problem, but I still think most of the attendees are driving enthusiasts.
Oh and I'm jealous of your access to the Dragon.

I think I got the last room in the lodge!! Driving back from the airstrip to the lodge has always been a blast. There are a number of group driving sessions that occur ad hoc though, weather permitting...

Bryan, would you prefer to have a hiatus of the airstrip event to prevent conflicts with this? I'm all for trying something new if it supports the cause... but it would suck to not have either one because of some mishap in communication. Is this track event 100% on? If not, when do you anticipate confirmation?
The track is still under construction, so that being that it is on as much as it can be. They are very optimistic and keep telling us it will be good to go.
As far as the airstrip, you might want to speak with Sharif.

There is always something going on. Some people show up as early as Monday and hang all week. There is hundreds of miles of awesome roads, hundreds of awesome peeps and cars, and we generally have a soft start on thursday with something. Track day, swap meet, another night to hang out together.
