Maybe it's just me, or because I really take care of my stuff, but that just seems like an asinine thing to do to an expensive, perfectly good car

Meh not that impressive, I can do that in my Z WITHOUT a wet road. Also towards the end you can tell the poor organic clutch has over heated.

Actually, I don't understand why rear fogs aren't mandatory here too. In the rain and fog, car's don't "appear" right in front of you when they hit the brakes. Visibility is so much better.

I didn't know that. Why wouldn't you just have the 'rear fog lights' be both reverse lights, too? Maybe it has a different lens.
