Real smart dude, people who think cops are trigger happy are seriously ignorant as hell. Most cops will serve their entire career and will have never discharged their weapon. "Lets lock the cop up for trying to get a $hitbag off the street" makes a whole hella lot of sense. Done venting!

Dont get me wrong. I am not bashing law enforcement. I just see it unfit to discharge a weapon and risk taking innocent life when a life in not in imminent danger. My belief is that weapon should be mainly for self defense, protecting his own life or someone else life, not as an offensive tool.

All the people bad mouthing what the cop did dont know a damn thing about the situation but pass judgment anyway. He could have been running through countless intersections before the cops finally blocked him off, we dont know, maybe this guy did miss a family in a minivan, who knows? (If anyone has full story it would be appreciated) Why does it take the blood of innocent people before others will side with an officer, is it just because he is "the police"? Cops get tons of training and watch tons of videos like this one but far more gruesome to the extent that we (the public) never get to see them...I am sure in that training when the cops dont stop someone in a fleeing vehicle and continue to give them a chance to run is when other innocent people get hurt/killed. The cop did what he was supposed to do, the idiot in the car did not.
Man how this thread would be different if the cop did NOT shoot him and the guy slammed into someone and killed them...then its oh why didnt the cop shoot him when the driver was trying to run him over...Also one reason for so many shots could also be the result of the cop jumping backwards as a car is coming at him, might be a little tough to shoot but I am just guessing.

Yes..STRAY ROUNDS. Bullets travel a long way. Count how many shots were fired. Do you think everyone of them hit the intedend target. It only takes one recklessly placed round to end an innocent life.
And the business about the guy using his car as an offensive tool is absolute garbage. If he wanted to run the cop over he would have easily done so. He was fleeing but certainly not trying to run the cop over. The police officer jumped in front of the car as he was slowly turning to leave. He is certainly more likely to crash and cause an accident after fleeing and being wouded. This man could have been further pursed and probably caught. This man may have died over something as simple as a DUI charge...worth killing someone? NOT. Most muderers dont even get the death penalty. People like you would probably defend the cop even if he did hit a bystander and say he was just doing his job. So consider all scenarios before you go calling peoples statment ignorant. Get real.

Are you even serious?
You need the reality, how about you look up how many police chases end in someone either getting hurt (driver/bystander/police) or killed because of the recklessness of the person running. Then tell me how many times out of those a bystander was hit by an officers bullet. Are you that blind? You are just saying this because you have a negative view of police, or at the most a negative view of this officer. Point blank this guy was stopped, had a cop already pointing a gun at him and he tried using his car to drive through him.
Last time I checked when someone is infront of your car(especially a police officer with a gun) you dont drive at them, regardless of an officer or not that is attempted murder with a deadly weapon. What is the cop supposed to assume, "oh he wont run me over, he is just turning to go by me while my gun is pointed at him and I am infront of his car". As you notice in the video the guy didnt gas, brake, gas, brake to try and make the officer move, he just gassed it at him. Someone drives a car at you, you dont assume they are trying to kill you? I dont think someone who thinks the way you do will ever be smart enough to realize the big picture of the situation. You just dislike the police, and are using any excuse you can to un-justify what the officer did. Stray rounds hitting bystanders, further dangerous pursuit(DUI driver in a sports car at high speed oh thats smart) driving a car at someone isn't offensive. You sir get real, if you even can past your own prejudice.

At the end you hear the Z move off, but then you hear an abrupt bang and a screech. The driver definately hit something. I read on a court website that this may be the guy that was leading police around on a very dangerous chase before he was cornered. Speeds topped 100mph through town. If true, he very well could have killed someone innocent. It's sad the police had to shoot, and it's sad he died, but I agree with the Law Enforcement Officers judgement here.

I rarely post any type of comment on this forum but after reading some of the arrogant and down right dumb comments these 17 year olds and those of you who dislike law enforcement officers in general have made about this video, I feel it would be wrong of me to say nothing. Especially since I am part of this community and an officer myself.
With my department we are NOT allowed to shoot at a moving vehicle, UNLESS there is a threat of imminent danger to ourselves or someone else by means of anything other than the vehicle itself. With that said, none of you know the reason the subject was stopped. There are clearly multiple patrol vehicles on scene which means this is not just a simple traffic infraction. This is something that was put over the radio and in which multiple units were called to the scene. And as far as the number of shots...the subject crashed shortly after and was found to have been hit by many of those rounds. Shooting to wound is not something we are trained to do. If we are going to pull that trigger we had best have a damn good reason to do so. That cop still has to live with the fact that he just took someone’s life away from them, and that is a mental burden that I'm sure none of you know or are equip to handle. Having a bullet from a handgun travel through the windshield of a car, the subject, the seat, the floorboards, and bounce off the pavement, it is not going to have enough momentum to cause serious injury to someone even on the off chance it were to hit a bystander.
I deal with the public on a daily basis and the total lack of respect for law enforcement is sickening. And to see it every time a comment about a cop comes up in this forum is down right appalling.

none of the shots fired prob even came close to exiting the vehicle. They dont use ball ammo penetration is not what they go for its expanding and stopping power. I also agree we dont know what happened prior dude could have had a shotgun hangin out the window. Im sure it was a justified shoot. Most cops dont want to shoot somebody. Taking a life can leave horrible mental scars. Ny is right, you never shoot to wound if you have a good enough reason to shoot then however many rounds it takes to stop the threat center mass is what you go for . Im not a cop just a guy that respects what cops do everyday.
