Looks like he went straight into the thing that launched him up and into the tree? Must have been a pretty expensive to repair... if possible at all

I had an accident that sorta went the same way once, I locked the front wheels and hit a curb which sent me airborne - hit an electrical box instead of a tree though (knocked it over)

 

he turned in hard with out initiating drift......so he just skid since he just slammed his foot on the brakes....

he should have taken his foot off the gas, straightened out the wheel and then manuevered out of the way?
