Umm....HP gains.
Why are you guys hating on intakes??? When you put 2 big a** fans in front of front of the intakes, it sucks up more air resulting in hp gains....now this also differs depending on the intake, heat soak you'd have to take that into account. But that's proven from K&N drop in filters in trucks to HKS suction intakes on skylines. Perhaps this is your own conclusion that resulted from your own tests but I have seen nothing but success from my past 5 cars before my Z with a aftermarket intake attached.

If anything, it's not the filter that helps, it's the more efficient venturi ring(velocity stack) compared to stock. Of course before/after dynos needed to prove anything.

its been discussed already

if having it makes you feel better, more power to ya

dynoing an intake proves absolutely nada - nothing, zilch.

What was mentioned was true - 1/4, if not a half mile - any real gains you net will be realized there...not on a dyno

I have one on my car...among the rarest and probably the priciest ones ever for a Z, but I knew going in it wouldn't do a damn thing - I got it because its pretty and rare

one of these days someone will do a dyno in a wind tunnel ... that should give some good real-world results

If you know anything about the Z car then you would know an intake won't give you jack ****. Apparently....you don't know anything about the Z car.

On a Z, the only way to prove an intake's worth is on the track. On a dyno, there's just not enough air to simulate the speeds you'll hit moving down the track. The Z's stock intake is already a damn good design, that's why they don't make much power when adding an aftermarket one.

Car to car is different... you can't expect the same thing you got with your past five cars. Hell, my DSM mad 15whp/wtq from slapping an HKS RS kit on it. My Evo made similar. My Z... barely made squat. That's what happens when you have an already efficient design.

+1 if you want your mods to matter then get an rsx-s so you can smoke everyone with your intake, exhaust, header, and tune upgrade

Nissan engineers are not stupid guys. They are a very smart group.

There is a little bit to be gained in the filter element because the OEM filters that are used are mainly for filtration and not performance. So using a dry performance drop in filter will help a bit. The main idea is preventing heat soak which the OEM plastic airbox does very well.

Oh and Z1 has a sick intake on his car, Gruppe-M ftmfw!!!! I miss mine, I wish they made a kit for the HR's.

Give it a rest guys!!!! I think the intake looks sexy and gives the engine bay more bling. Who cares about performance, they are just f*cking sexy.
