Default Berk Metalic HFC and CEL

Well yesterday I got 0430 CEL light and reset it. Drove fine all last night. Then this morning on the way to work 0430 again.

Anyone dealing with this? Should it put steel wool in the bung for the O2?

Hm..that's odd. This is my second time around with this setup, and no problems yet. What is that code exactly?

I had mine for 3000 and a lot of racing.

Code is for #2 bank O2

I rest them my self but it came back.I reset it again and I am sure it is only a matter of time till it comes back.

The berks have built in non foulers.

Wouldn't that have show up three months ago?

I think if it happens again then I am going to put the stock ones back on for awhile and see if it comes back.

Or I could swap the O2 sensors from left to right.

I'm willing to bet it's a damaged 02 sensor.. some members on the forums had the CEL light pop up and took it in and indeed it was the 02 sensor.

Well then I will swap the sensors from left to right.

Metalic hfc are not like ceramic. The metalic hfc's act like test pipes until they reach a high temp. That is why they have nonfoulers welded on them.

And I don't think they have rhodium or platinum in them either, so yea they aren't that much better than test pipes at not polluting. better, but not much..
BTW do you recall taking the sensors out before you tried using an impact wrench to take off your bolts when installing? The impact wrench can mess up the 02 sensors from the hard vibrations. Hard to believe, but that's the truth.. I took mine out before the gun hit the bolts. no problem so far.

Sorry for the noob question, but what are the o2 sensors for? There's one on each header right before the cat and one after each cat, correct? Do they affect a/fuel ratio at all or how the engine runs in some way, or are they only there for emissions purposes?

edit: The guys at Technosquare told me that the o2 sensors right before the cat are a little more important than the ones after the cat and are like a secondary system that measures air/fuel ratio, the MAF being the primary system (at least I think that's what they said, haha).

I know when I had my Prelude, the primary O2 sensor (before cat) did have an effect on performance, fuel maps, etc. The secondary O2 was there purely for emissions purposes. I'm assuming things are the same for the Z

Hey Travis, I think they are your 02 sensors. I recall one member having his HFC installed, and his o2 sensor failed on him a few months down the line. It might've gotten a tad bit damaged when you installed them, and slowly went to chit from there.

Well I swapped over the O2 sensors from left to right. I also checked the voltage and it is reading correct.
I am also driving the car alittle different. Before I would do a WOT run to get on the highway with in 10 minutes of starting up (highway I take to work is with in ten minutes of the house) and I would get the code shortly after. SO now I wait until 15+ minutes has past before WOT. My thinking is if I let the Metalic reach the right temp before I WOT then the ecu will see the right reading. I have done this three times sense yesterday and no codes. I will update later this week.
