Best place for info is the drag forums.

My advice 2-3k launch easy out of the whole and shift fast and you will be in the 13s. if you are looking to break into the 12s then you better go to the track a couple of times and pratice.

+1 on checking out the drag forums. Also seat time will help you. Do a search though before posting this question in the drag forums because its been beaten to death many many times before over there. Good luck on your quest for 13s.

It's not hard at all. Just get some seat time.

I'm trying to get into the 13.2-13.4 area. I need to head out to the track again. Last time I went was back in January.

no, I was just trying to get people to go out there, because out of the whole night I only saw 1 other Z out there and of course mine, and my fiancee's. But my very first run of the night was a 13.9 and then the rest was 14.1,14.3,14.1,15.3. spun last run but o well. like I said was "just trying to get you guys out there". I was on an Iphone posting so it wasn't all that easy to navigate

Break into the 13's?

Aren't the HR's supposed to be running mid 13's stock?

A car does not drive itself. A car is only as good as the driver.

Exhibit A:
The OP said he managed to get a 13.9. I have managed a 13.7. Other members have reported getting a 13.2-4 time-slip.

So what have we learned? That your statement is false and that a stock HR can actually run low 13's stock? Maybe...

Mine (with me driving) will post 13.4's all day and could do better. It is the guy behind the wheel that makes the choices not the car.

A bad driver can get less out of a car than its capable of, but a good driver cannot get more than a car is capable of.

I'm relearning my new clutch, based on the 2 mph gain in the 1/8th the flywheel should give me at least a free tenth once I get my launch procedure down packed again.

Well, considering you have test pipes and a true-dual exhaust, I think you could trap a bit higher. Somewhere around 103-104 mph. But track conditions play a significant role also, so keep that in mind.

Don't feel bad. I went to the track for the first time in my NISMO and got on the first try a 13.9 at 99 mph. 2.0 60s. Dunno I tried several more times, and got another 13.9 then 14.0s, most were 99 to 100 mph.

Had wheel hop at the launches, so I was having issues there. Running stock pressure 35psi all around.

I took Veetec advice, but it didn't work well. Launched 2-3k rpms. Even tried once at 3200-3300, didn't help any. At least my clutch grabbed. Having a difficult time getting shifted to 2nd fast, if I do it too fast it grinds. Grr.

Rushing the stick shift will result in monstrosity and massive wheelspin.

I'm not saying don't shift quickly, I just recommend making smooth/efficient shifts. It's better that you get the proper procedure down of how to shift properly. Then after you got that down as a habit, take gradual steps to quicker shifts. You want to be efficient and not sloppy/aggressive.

It worked for me. I went from a 14.1 to 13.7. I know that 13.7 isn't the best, but I consider myself a drag racing novice. I also was making a big mistake by shifting rather aggressively.
