Not to take sides or anything...but the same could be said about your testpipes? 200 dollars for a pair of pipes?

 

Test pipes make power. end of story. If the goal of your modifcation is power, so far intakes are a waste of money. If you want sound and underhood looks thats a diff story.

You said you couldn't justify spending 500 dollars on two pipes and a filter. Using the same logic, testpipes are just pipes as well, so it wouldn't make sense to spend money on just "pipes".

Given that test pipes make more power, that would be the incentive to buy them over intakes. However, my original quote was directed at the quote I have you at above...where you stated that it was pointless to spend money on just pipes...when your test pipes are just pipes as well.

 

Hopefully they do make good numbers, I wanna pick those up! Give my Z a little bit more pep

 

test pipes don't make power. catalytic converters decrease power.

 

My Berk Technology test pipes cost me $310 shipped. I have never payed $500 for intake, not even on my previous IS350.

 

best to just keep your stock setup unless you want looks and sound.

 

+1 think of that $500 as money you can put towards a better exhaust, which in fact will give an increase in power.

 

^^^smart, any competent muff shop can make a straight pipe for $25 in place of cats(old school style), and low and behold... you got more power.
