Dual Popchargers - Power gain? Loss?
So I just ordered up the JWT HR intake from Kyle Pucket. $310 shipped, real nice. Real easy guy to go through, props. I'll try and post up video after install. Car feels much much quieter after dynamatting the trunk and doors. I'm a believer now in that stuff.
OK, so i got them installed in about 90 minutes last night. Too bad it's raining here in the Bay, and that I can't really open up on the roads, yet. Anyways, install was very smooth, very well-machined parts. Not sure if it's just me, but the instructions could of had a better picture/script with regard to the screw-on plates which attach the 2 heat shields to the framing underneath. Other than that, very straight-forward and I am pleased with them. I will try and post a vid up. I can tell all prospective buyers out there this though, in my case I have dynamatted the car, run my sounds pretty hard at times, and the Injen SES on my Z is pretty loud compared to other exhausts I've heard out there (Stillen, HKS, Nismo)(youtube doesn't count). With all of this taken into account, I really don't hear the intakes much, but maybe it's cuz I haven't had the opportunity to really throttle it. Regardless, I know the engine is breathing a little easier, and so even if the gain isn't literally felt, I acknowledge the indirect gain my car is receiving. So, I am pleased. $310 pleased? Yes, given the competitor's pricing out there. The only time I'd upgrade this is if I knew there was a sweet set of affordable cams out there for the HR. My dad's 04 runs nismo cams on a procharger sc @ 7psi tuned by Rob @ Z-Car here in San Jose, and puts 380 rwhp/320 rwtq. That's a good garage.
