Default exhaust ground?

So I recently bought an HKS hi-power exhaust. I got under my car last night just to look around and noticed that there appears to be a ground wire coming from the last flange before the muffler and bolting up to the frame. What is the purpose of this? I have never seen that before. Also, is this something I need to worry about reconnecting after I install the HKS?

The hks hi-power has a tab on it for the ground to be reconnected.

i always understood it to be a static electricity ground. +1 on not reconnecting it. But if the HKS has a tab, might as well use it.

You really don't have to do anything you don't want to, hell you don't even need to bolt up the new exhaust to the cats. Zip ties should be fine rebel.

lol at teh jokerz^^^. but in all seriousness, the most it will do is get you a quicker ground to the rear O2 sensors. AKA, instead of thinking its 1500 rpm when its really 1510 rpm, it will think its 1507 rpm when its 1510. YES!!!!

edit: just so you dont get me wrong, i have it connected, its easy to bolt up so why the hell not?

OP,
Not sure if you resolved this or not, but there is a bracket on the driver's side HKS canister. Behind the tube facing the front of the car. I reconnected the OEM ground wire there.
