Default installed Injen's twin-shortram setup...

i think i might be the first person to have actually purchased this so i thought i'd post up... sadly it's raining and i have zero-traction outside for the next 36-hours so i won't have an actual report on how it sounds under WOT or any butt-dyno measurements, but even at partial throttle it sounds bad *** and i can feel a slight difference/mpg gain. or, maybe i'm just smoking crack

regardless, here's a photo of it installed. took under an hour and it reuses the stock intake flex-tubes which is probably why it's not TOO much louder, nor is it as pricey as other intakes ($330 shipped). yes, i know i would've gotten maximum gains with a CAI, but having had one hydrolocked car in the family thus far, not looking to even remotely risk it.

so you decided to go with less power this time... to help you get over the puddle faster ?

yep, metal heatshields for each filter. at first it seems they intended for it to seal with the hood, but the rubber trim pieces for that were crossed off the parts list and seems like they weren't included at the last minute...

haha, funny i admitted up front that i went with the ricier option with no qualms about it, but it still doesn't prevent people from acting douchey it seems like i said it sounds bad ***, and it replaced the 40k stock filters that needed replacing anyway. if nothing else, i'm happy with it. besides, when you have a 10sec 1/4mi weekend ride you don't really care about max HP on a car anyway.

^ you make no scene... the stock airboxes are better than short rams on HR. that has been proven time after time. the only intake that made ANY power is injen long cai and with filters sitting exactly 16" of the ground on a slammed car i don't see how a hydrolock would be an issue.

sense, you mean? the stock airboxes have been proven to be better than the fujita for sure, i don't recall what i saw about the JWT/stillen but i believe that they aren't better than stock either. but no one has this setup yet, so you can't conclusively say that it's not better than stock. all those intake claims were made by the technosquare guys, and they also believed that no CAI performed better than stock either, until AFTER they tested injen's.

but i tell you what really doesn't make sense, putting a $2000 brake kit on a car that otherwise has great fade resistance to justify the 1 or 2 track events that you probably do per year (if that), or the other parts on your car that probably have no benefit whatsoever. looking at your other past threads, i won't even get into how gay it is to want a two-tone initial D style paint job...

That extension cord could fall and scuff your Z.

well since you decided to hate on my choices, i'm going to hate on yours. in my opinion, did you have nothing better to do than to get marginally beneficial racing seats or brakes that "far exceed" stock? in case you forgot, your car is not a hollowed out road racer. maybe you'll impress a few ricers down at HIN, but it's no less a huge waste of money than my intakes.

your car looks more like a show car than it does a race car, i don't think anyone here would dispute that. further, as if it wasn't already, it would be a HUGE waste of money to turn it into a track-only car. there are far better platforms out there to make a track-only racecar for way less cash. by the time you're done, it will be significantly more retarded than me getting a pair of short ram intakes that may not produce substantial horsepower. you done yet?

actually, initially you stated like a jackass that i'd go over puddles faster. so really, you brought this on yourself btw, when you're done with your racecar, my racebike will still rape your car in a straight or on a road course for probably just the cost of your brake setup. apples to oranges, but just fyi

sorry man, i can't fit in to a miata.

i love my z and i am lucky to be able to go and thrash it around the track and actually use the parts that like you said most people only put on for show.

now i am done. have fun with your hai.

who said anything about a miata? it's great, not that i can fit in one either, but it's not the only cheap roadracing platform out there. and you can go on pretending that your $5k brake kit is going to win you some touring cup trophies while i enjoy my HAI, thanks

back on topic after that digression, the pipes sound bad ***. not much of a difference until past 5k, then it's just ridiculous. on a side note, still surprised at how much passing power the HR has even in the higher gears...

definitely do not see any gay here.

he got the bbk cause he actually uses the car on the track, now if he got the bbk and never went to the track in his life (97% of people on here that get bbk's), that'd be gay

and who cares if he didn't get the absolute best platform for the money to race, and who cares if its not gonna win a trophy at every event. he got the car that he likes and thats fun to drive at the track. it needed a couple upgrades to cope with the extra stress. trust me, brake fade is not fun when you're coming in off the main straight at 140+ for a corner (been there done that). i know i'm not going to anymore track days till i get a bbk (should be within 2 months w00t w00t)

you're (theKoosh) just bitter that you blew 330 buck for some noises and and shiney pipes and no extra power... which btw is much more ricer car show than a bbk that actually gets used as it was intended. so if anyone is a ricer here, its you, not Tac-M

hey, i openly admitted in the beginning that i didn't think it would make more power than a CAI, and he hated on it anyway. how does turning it around on him make me bitter? i normally wouldn't hate on anyone for their choice of mods, but if he wants to hate, ain't no reason why he can't get it back all the fun of the forums of course.
