jeremy tibbs where are you for us hr guys?
i was going of the wieght on autos.msn.com which lists the z at about 3350 (more for touring and gran touring) and the vette at about 3180
My car, with me in it and a fair bit of gas is ~3400 lbs, without me, and with 1/4 tank is <3200. The Corvette weight is about right, and I forget how much gas he had (may have been full), but my point was, our cars are similar in size. Wheelbase is fairly close, width is close, we have taller cars, less power, and thus are slower.
oh i know the z is slower, i never argued that, i just don't like the way the vette feel's. it just feel lazy and heavy...
I'm supposed to get to drive (was promised anyway) a c5 z06 next sat, i hear they're alot better as far as road feel and how the suspension responds to steering input and such. I'm looking forward to the drive, hopefully i won't be dissappointed again...

If someone gets a quote for how much a fab'd sc kit or single turbo kit would cost, I'm pretty sure this thread can be saved. I one to think that all that custom work will cost more than just breaking down and getting a twin turbo system but thats just my opinion.
so i drove the c5 zo6, and i must say, its a completely different animal.
first of all the engine, in the c6, although fast, for some reason it just felt lazy. in the c5, its as hyperactive as a 9 year old with ADD, the thing responds and plants you back in the seat instantly, extremely responsive, yet still easy to modulate power. i have to say, it my favorite engine i've had personal experience with (which isn't exactly every engine in the world though)
and for the important part, the suspension. simply put, its great. its responds fast, minimal body roll, transitions are quick. i hate to repeat this, but compared to the c5 z06, the c6 is a buick... the c5 is a real sports car, the c6 is something middle aged men with erectile dysfunction buy to feel good about themselves... i'm sure the c6 z06 is an animal, but the base is a sack of garbadge

exactly but this time jeremy does not have to pull the money from his pocket so maybe it will come up cheaper.
I'll write a quote for a Single kit
. I think it will be rather straight-forward to come up with a Single HR Turbo Kit. Give me a coupe of days to play with some numbers and get a solid estimate. Keep in mind, a one-off kit will always be more - but it shouldn't be anymore than a twin kit (Maybe less). With our CNC facility and Mandrel bender, we're equipped here to make it all in-house - something we can definitely do.
Hopefully this summer, we'll have time to put a Single Kit Together,
(Also - don't forget we have twin kits available for HR)

you're right, i didn't drive the z51, but you're the first person i hear saying that its better than the c5z
the engine is more or less the same (prolly even a bit better in the c6) but there is one key difference. the c5z is a cable throttle body, and the c6 is electronic. its tuned to respond nice and slow, thats why the engine felt lazy to me. I'm sure it could be cured with a tune, but i'm only comparing what i had first hand experience with.

a C5Z and a regular C6 is the same motor...... Ive driven both a C5z and C6 with z51 package and C6z. Ill put money on it the C6 you drove was not a z51. IMHO the C5z doesnt hold a candle to a C6 Z51. The traction and handling is a million times better on the C6. The steering is way better. The shifting is way crisper. And the motor is the same as a C5z.
Not to offend you guys or try to sound like an a$$, but you guys do realize that this is a Z forum and not a corvette forum. If you guys like the damn vette so much you should have just brought one and not a Z. So please stop jacking the damn thread and lets just stay on subject.
