Default idling issue 2008 350z

Hey everyone,

I have an 08 350z touring. Current mods were nismo intakes and stock everything else. I am prepping for a gtm turbo kit and purchased the greddy ti-c tt exhaust now. I installed the exhaust(im still N/a) and it sounds LOUD and AWESOME :-) But now I have two problems in which I dont know if they have anything to do with each other or it may be coincidence that it starting to happen now.

When at a stop while idling, the RPMS are dipping so low that the car rumbles like crazy. And other times it dips so low that the car just dies completely and shuts off. (no check engine light is on)

Also, now 30% of the time when I start the car, the car doesnt start up smooth anymore. It starts and instead of the rpms jumping up and coming back down to idling position, the car starts and the rpms go to barely 1k rpms and the car shakes extremely vigorously!... and after about 5 seconds, the rpms jump up to idling position.(once again, no check engine light)

anyone with some input or ideas that could help me out would be greatly appreciated!

PS. this happens with either AC on OR off.... i tried both ways.

thanks!! Ryan

I just posted video.... idle jump happens around 60 seconds and at end up video(1:35), car shuts off completely

So, one little blip at 60sec, runs fine again, then up and dies at 1:35? And no CEL's? That is really strange. Just so I am reading you correctly, you had Nismo intakes installed first, and it ran fine, then started acting up after you recently changed the exhaust?

Chris,

I had the intakes put on in june in the summer and the car ran great until late november. The starting up problem began in november but never had an idling problem until after the exhaust was installed last week.( i just thought it was the nice cold 30 degree weather in NJ .. lol)

Prnstr40,

No i didnt reset anything after either mod was done.

Should i do an ECU reset?

thanks guys for responding so quickly~!

Try doing these resets http://www.technosquareinc.com/350reset.htm and if that doesn't work, check all of the o2 sensors.

I had a similar issue with my carmaro. It ended up being one of my O2 sensor wires being too close to the exhaust, and the interior wire guards melted together, shorting one of them, causing the car to run insanely rich. Double check your wiring.

Do all of the resets on that page. And no, the installer would have no reason to touch the o2 sensors while simply swapping the catback.

I think you will have to get a tune to get rid of yours...it might just be a temporary fix because after doing this reset my CEL came back on after driving around for a little while.

Went to nissan today and dropped off for service. They hooked it up to nissan computer at their facility and no c@odes came back. So they did everything you guys listed on the technosquare page. But, they did it through their nissan computer. Should be the same right?

Yes, they can perform all of the TS resets via Consult II.

Did you check under the hood for loose connections?

Update:

So i did the resetting with Nissan(at no charge thank god) and they did all the resets for me on the technosquare page via their nissan computer. Tuesday I had no problems and was happy. I get home tonite in front of my house and the idle went nuts again(didnt shut off). I did look for loose connections and still havent found any. i checked the nismo intakes and some vacuum lines as well. Still no CEL on I dont know what to do any more. My mechanic said he didnt touch the O2 sensors as well when installing the greddy.
