Maybe after the release of our HR single turbo kit, we'll play around with some LTH designs

It seems that most of the big name shops and aftermarket manufacturers just kinda moved right past the HR and onto the GTR and 370Z. It's sad because the 3.5HR motor has so much untapped potential.

Not really their fault from a money stand point. It was only made for 2 years and a total of I think about 24 thousand cars sold. Thats a small market. The only good thing we have is that its very similar externally to the 3.7

I have the OBX Long tubes installed on my HR, Fitment on the driver side is fine but for the passenger side the header does touch the frame of the car close to the heat shield that sit above the cats. I did wrap both headers with exhaust wrap and the exhaust wrap on the passenger side split apart due to vibration/friction in between the header and car frame. At the area where the exhaust wrap split I put a steel zip tie in that area and it has kept the wrap intact ever since. I have driven the car very hard multiple times going up to 120-145mph+ and everything still looks fine. Everything bolted up fine even with the fitment issue. As for the Megans long tubes they kinda look identical to each other but maybe Megans will fit better or maybe not I dunno. Now another thing is that you have to replace the OEM exhaust with an aftermarket one from the Y-Pipe and back. The reason is restriction from the OEM exhaust small piping will cause Hesitation when trying to accelerate at around 3000rpm which is very noticeable and usually will throw a code when that happens. I do have a Base model Z so I wouldn't know if it would be different if you had the nismo exhaust or G35 coupe/sedan since the piping may differ a little bit. I have a Topspeed HKS knock off installed right now and that hesitation is gone. The CEL fix with one/two anti foulers on each side doesn't work and I am not even gonna bother adding steel wool. Unless there is a different method I haven't found the car is just gonna have to get a tune.

Wonder why it would hesitate? I've seen several build their exhaust from the headers back, stage by stage with no problem.

Did You have to use the DE test pipes when you put the headers on? I am considering doing this pretty soon.

Look at a photo of a set of long tube headers. Look carefully. You will find your answer.

Everything looks fine it just touch's a little on the passenger side which didnt even make the installation difficult. Installing the headers went just fine and I didn't have to fight to get it in there and the stock Y-pipe bolted up like if it was OEM nothing was misaligned or far apart just dead on point. I can put up a sound clip but its gonna be from my phone its the best I can do right now. there is a video of a G35 with the megan longtubes and aftermarket exhaust installed that you can search on youtube. It is on the DE and not the HR engine but it will give you an idea at least. Its definitely loud and aggressive with an aftermarket exhaust but for me the signature VQ sound is gone. I will also try to do a sound clip doing a tunnel run which to me is very fun.

I haven't done a dyno run yet or gotten a tune so all I can tell you is a "BUTT DYNO". The car feels better than stock to me and thats all I can say until I get it tuned and run it on a dyno.
