Default Idle trouble..

Hey guys I changed my oil yesterday. I changed from using Royal Purple 5w-30 to 10w-30 after my 4k changes for 53k miles now. At the same time, my bud went ahead and was trying to help, by taking off my Fujitas, cleaning the inside of the throttle body to the front of the door and spring. He was using a slightly armoralled towel that was used for cleaning the inside of the cabin. I also put more coolant into the coolant can and it filled to the max line which I still don't believe is a factor. The same day my intakes were washed, and dried. However, the car was pulled out for a wash with the filters un-installed. Didn't think that would be a problem. The car now will start and rev to 1000 rpm. But once I take it out, the idle will increase to about 1500-2000rpm and fluctuate between that and wont really go back to a mellow idle. I'm trying to figure out if it was some moisture that sat inside the intake tubes while the filters were not on, or if it has something to do with the method that he cleaned the throttle body. Could it possible be my switch to 10w-30? The exhaust now produces a plastic like smell.

Thanks for any advice, hope this info was enough.

Does this pdf manual apply just to the vq motor in general? No year specifications.

could be a lot of things, but doubt it was the oil. Could be moisture/water getting on your maf. Could be "your buddy" damaged the throttle body when he attempted to clean.

Try some of these reset procedures first:

Sounds like it could be a vacuum leak. Double check all the hoses.
