Default People with AAM test pipes...

What did you use for gaskets?
I know I can order berk's HR gaskets, and there is also the permatex high temp gasket maker.

I'm looking for the people that are completely happy with the route they chose... what did you use?

Re-use stock ones with permatex?

I want to do it right the first time.
Thanks in advance

OEM gaskets are expensive (about $40/4) and will last forever.

yea, a customer brought these in for install on his HR. Problem is the factory cats have an inner pipe that protrudes past the flange and it has a donut that crushes down when you tighten it up. The AAM pipes don't have that protruding pipe and they don't supply the gaskets. They give you the gaskets for the rear but nothing up top.

Could prolly just get the gaskets that come with the Berk pipes though.

Thanks. Would be interested in photos of test pipe to exhaust manifold mating. To see why gaskets must be unique.

OEM gaskets will not work on the upstream side at all because stock is a donut design and would block the ID of the test pipe

you can use permatex, it works just fine

heres a quick pic i just took in case some are wondering what the stock HR cat flange and gasket look like, the AAM test pipe doesnt have the extra half inch lip for the donut gasket to go over.

I used red high temp with mine and the o-ring style gasket. Seals up just fine.

I wouldn't recommend the AAM TP to anyone. It lowered my exhaust a little (Bassani) and made it rattle. I sent that **** back to Z1 and order the TP from GTM which could use the stock gaskets. The GTM TP in my opinion is better made and GTM customer service was better also from my experience for me than Z1 (will never do business with them again).

Well your preaching doesn't really affect anyone here... since everyone in this thread has them already.
Good job

My drivers side AAM test pipe caused a rattle when first installed, some investigation determinded that down stream O2 sensor tube was welded on at the wrong angle which casued the sensor to slightly rub the floor on the car. A call to AAM resulted in AAM sending me a replacement test pipe next day air at their expense, the replacement pipe fit fine and the O2 sensor no longer hits the floor of the car.

As far as gaskets go I just used the stock ones with a little silicone to hold them in place, they have been on for a year now with no leaks or other issues.

I have read many complaints about AAM on this forum and other places, but personally I have only had the one problem (as mentioned above) which AAM delt with quickly and at their own expense.

The attached pictures show the original test pipe and how it contacted the heat shield, the two test pipes side by side, and the replacement test pipe installed.
