The key is to utilize cats that are designed for F/I... most if not all of the high flow cats currently on the market for the VQ were never designed to see F/I. The 3" catted downpipes I have were custom fab'd for my car and setup.

Bigger SC unit and possibly a smaller pulley.

Well Rotrex Superchargers also have bigger units for higher boost too.

That was Sam's point. HFC's wouldn't last with the SC.

Hey guys,

I purchased and installed the turn key kit, and here’s my two cents.

The Bads:
1. I ordered it in February and it took a month to get it. GTM did not have the supercharger in stock, and I had to wait for their next shipment. Obviously, your results will vary. Based on my experience and having closely followed GTM in the forums for about a year, I recommend you temper your expectations, order the kit early, and TRY to be patient (it’s not possible to be patient when your SC kit is ordered! )
2. I had two faults in my kit as shipped. First, a small bracket wasn’t threaded properly from the machining process. I chose to just grind a few mm off the supplied bolts, and that fixed it. As soon as I let Sam know about this problem, he was on it. He would have shipped me a new bracket, and he checked the 30-some other brackets on his shelf. None in stock had the same problem, so I was just the lucky one. Small problem, easy fix. Second, they only shipped me ½ the power steering hose I needed. Sam says it was an error on the packing list that they since have fixed. $14 at the local parts store fixed that. GTM would have paid for it…but it was $14.

That leaves The Goods, which is everything else.

Overall, I am very happy with the kit. The box weighs about 60 lbs, so that’s about what you’re adding to your car. The brackets, pipes, and lines are all beautifully manufactured, sturdy as hell, and everything fit my car perfectly without any further mods, bending, or banging. I’m a mechanically-inclined weekend warrior, and I did the install myself in my garage. The car was up on jackstands Saturday afternoon, and by next Sunday I was breaking in the SC; basically two weekends and a few hours after work each day. The instructions are VERY easy to follow, and there’s a picture for everything. There’s almost no part of the install process that I could show you a picture of or give you a technique for that would be better than how it’s explained in the manual. Sam and GTM were very responsive—once I got my kit. Sam responded to my emails usually within hours (often right away), even in the middle of the night! I’m very impressed with the customer service and support once your build is underway. This was my first experience using the Uprev flash process, and Sam’s input and review of my logs helped assure me that everything was right. The Uprev flash was surprisingly accurate, too. IMO, I could have driven around on it safely without any tuning.

With the stock Uprev flash, I pulled 362 HP, 301 TQ. My tuner got it to 354 TQ (@5,700 RPM) and 426.2 HP @ 7,000. I’m not a tuner by any stretch, and I just told him to keep it safe. I’m getting the power GTM posted and what I was going for. This kit makes more boost than I expected with the “normal” (looks like the 84mm) pulley… 12 PSI at 7000 RPM. I have a stock clutch, and it holds the power—so far. The car is my DD, and it runs just like stock… with a lot more power.

I love the Rotrex supercharger! You can hear it spooling up, and it sounds like a big turbo. It does not have the gear lash, car-in-reverse supercharger sound, which I HATE! The BOV vents to the atmosphere, and it hits the right front wheel well. It is loud as hell, and I’m going to play with routing the air somewhere else with 1” hose the next time I have the fascia off.

I have about 500 miles on the kit so far without problems. Knock on wood!

The ONLY thing I didn’t do by the manual was tap the supercharger inlet pipe to install the PCV fitting. You need a 5/8 NPT tap, which I didn’t have or want to get. I drilled the hole to ½”+ and just screwed the fitting into the aluminum and sealed it up with some JB Weld—good enough!

Hope this helps you make your decisions!

Boom.

Here are some shots I haven't seen in this thread. I'm not a big photographer. Otherwise it looks just like the rest of the pix in the thread.
