No HFC's or Test pipes?! Thats your biggest issue! Should have spent the $350-500 bucks for those.
I can appreciate that Cobb is not #1 in Z tuning, but it was a custom tune by Tim Bailey himself. Look him up - not a crappy tune.

ART pipes = test pipes.

Figure 240 horsepower before. Plus 40 horsepower gives you 280 horsepower. That is a 16.6 percent increase. That may not be possible.

I don't think its possible, on an HR for that price.

But if someone can prove me wrong, please do so.
Dosnt matter if its HR or DE. I just put in Wisecos($600), eagles($400) and kept HR head bolts and gasket. Balancing crank and little machine shop stuff (~500ish).

With all my Mods I am in the 296-299 RWHP range! Now if you pony up the extra cash and do 4.08 gears you will really wake the beast.

I only went the bolt on route cause I needed something to keep myself busy and provide some gains till my warranty runs out. I'm pretty happy with my gains the way the car sits now! Its a night and day differance compaired to stock.

Edit: What elevation are you at? What fuel are you using? Ethanol content is on the rise. If you can find a station that sells ethanol free gas use it....

Zim

Are you boosted or N/A? I know its an age old Z topic but its a proven fact that DE's are more tuner friendly than HR's. HR's are a phenomenal engine and I wont disagree but its not tuner friendly.

Zim,

Elevation is only a couple hundred feet. Unfortunately we cannot compare dyno #'s as we used different dynos. I do know Cobb/Surgeline's dyno reads low. I am disappointed with the minimal gains between the custom tune and my baseline. Did you baseline your Nismo?

Yes, but what did you baseline? You're in the same boat if the dyno you were on baselined you at like 290hp.

Edit - oh, and you were on a dynojet, so naturally the numbers are going to be higher

This thread just woke me up.

I got the cams installed couple of months back during my rebuild, now planning to get a set of headers + Ypipe to complete my bolt-ons but...

I think I'm gonna stop modding "N/A" now and focus more on more important mods like handling / cooling (for trackdays), before it's really too late. FI ftw.

Thanks for sharing Nismo!

Tomei headers, test pipes and cams ( 264 in and out ), HKS exhaust, Injen CAI and tune got me 46 whp. It ain't easy on the HR, but the 4.08 final drive woke it up.

No wonder I don't need to run my Z over 3000rpm to get all the performance I want.
