you should see some nice gains, E85 burns much cooler . you should be able to run allot more agressive timing without having the EGT's through the roof also allot harder to knock (obviously) make sure you tune the cam phasing overlap that is where most of the power is made. Keeping the flow velocity is what makes N/A power.
I was able to make an extra 30 Ponies out of a Tune Alone.

Cramming a ton of timing into the car without the addition of significant compression (and the trimmings to make such a setup effective) has next to 0 net effect on power. Might give you some benefit at altitude, but requires a completely revised fuel system and mapping

I blame your tune.
Either way, yeah.. you're not going to get a lot of HP out of bolt-ons on just about ANY quality N/A car. But the reason your $/HP ratio sucks so bad is because you bought "baller" parts. Surely you realize that an exhaust is pretty much an exhaust from a power stand point. Yours is probably just shinier and might sound better.. that's what you paid for, not the HP.
My $400 TurboXS exhaust put me within about 10 WHP of stock 370Z's (you do the math) and I still have my cats in too. Plus I absolutely love how it sounds. Not too bad IMO.
But like I said, I blame your tune. From just about every thread I've seen on here (this is of course just speculation until I do the mods and dyno myself), intakes/exhaust/tune (which you can easily do for under $1500) should net you a good 25-35 WHP... so something aint right there. =P

I did about 240whp stock (G35 HR sedan). With Injen CAI, Invidia HFC, Stillen CBE and Uprev tune I made 270whp. That's a 30whp gain for around $2.5K
I could have gained that 30whp with only $2K simply by getting cheaper parts ($200 test pipes, $900 catback, $400 CAI, $500 tune)

thats why i bought very very cheap n/a mods..
LT headers=250$
used kinetix v+ plenum 150$
used popcharger= 60$
I know HR parts are more expensive and harder to come by, but the concept is the same

why is it that i hear again and again that osiris makes more hp/mod than Cobb ? ? ? . . and i dont think comparing hp to $$$ spend is the right thing to do . . . you also get less weight, better throttle response, sweet sound etc . . .

And you are right, $$$ spent/hp is negligible. There are people spending upwards of $6k for catback exhausts, I understand this. I am just showing that you can get easily get caught up in NA upgrades, which is not very appropriate with power in mind. It was a reality check for me and, hopefully, an eye opener for the rest of the community.

From my previous post May '10 (cleaned up)
Berk HFC 7.6whp 6.29wtq and then another 5.36whp 3.82wtq with uprev tune which was done last. OEM intakes. Total 285.93whp 257.40wtq all on same dynojet same day. About $2200 spent for 12.96whp and 10.11wtq
$500 turboxs exhaust installed
$500 berk hfc shipped
$901.00 osiris and cipher w/cable and tune
+ Dyno before and after each with the shop labor for install. Cost $243 for HFC install and dyno before and after. Can't find other receipt for exhaust but I think it was $60.
Total = $2204 not a lot of $ but a waste of $.

Ok you guys made me want to do some math. Your numbers are saddening. =(
Like I said I dyno'd my car post exhaust at a 370Z dyno day and every stock 370Z was getting about 10 whp more than my car.
370Z Stock 332 crank hp was dynoing 282 whp so that's a 15% drivetrain loss on that dyno.
With the same 15% loss on the same dyno, same day.. according to my calculations I would have gotten 260 whp (down from 306 at the crank). I dyno'd 271 so that's an 11 whp gain from my exhaust, and I still have the cats!
So in other words my exhaust is basically giving me the same gains as you guys are getting from exhaust, testpipes/hfc's, AND a tune? If not intakes too? LOL I guess I'll just stick with the exhaust. Like I said, I hope to get another 20 wheel at least after intakes and a tune.
Maybe my math method here is ghetto but it seems legit to me? =P Other than the possibility that the 350Z has a more efficient drivetrain or something.. but that seems unlikely IMO.
