A Mild HR build thread
So ya, decided to make a build thread. Here ya go; bought it in Houston, TX in 2009 after my Mazdaspeed 3 was totaled. Paid it off asap and track it every so often.
Engine:
Stillen Gen3 long tube intake (CAI)
COBB AP
Unorthodox Light Weight pulley's
ACT Heavy duty clutch and Light weight fly wheel, also stainless steel braided clutch line
Motordyne TDX v2
Motordyne ART pipes
HKS m-series sparkplugs
Drivetrain:
75 duro tranmission mount
Suspension:
Power Grid adjustable End-links (front and rear)
Hotchkis Sways (front and rear)
SPL eccentric lock out bolts
GT-Spec lower rear tie bar
Extra's
Hella Supertones!
Front clear reflectors.
Z1 Performance "radiator cooling panel" (more ascetics than anything)
Stealth turn signal bulbs
Fenders rolled.
After Detail:
Motordyne TDX v2
Video, of a pull on the day they were going to do the tuning gave me a free run.
<a href="http://s588.photobucket.com/albums/ss325/LordGardenGnome/350Z/?action=view&current=DSCN0603.mp4" target="_blank"><img src="http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss325/LordGardenGnome/350Z/th_DSCN0603.jpg" border="0" alt="" style="width: 160px;"></a>
At 3:20 is when he does the dyno run.....everything else is kind of idle
Just so happened to be getting a custom tune right after I installed my Motordyne TDX v2 exhaust.
4th Gear pull:
-The first number is with out the motordyne exhaust. The second with the TDX v2 and custom tune.
5th Gear pull:
-The first number is with out the motordyne exhaust. The second with the TDX v2 and custom tune.
Installed Motordyne ART pipes: (My camera was dead so using motordyne pic)
Then performed tuning:
4th Gear Pull
5Th Gear Pull
The ART Pipes:
Just like Hydrazine says no RASP through the entire power band and I gained 15whp and 10 tq, I am absolutely satisfied with these. The ART pipes work as advertised!

Hardware - $2425.00
Initial Tune - $225.00
New tune - $150.00
So $2,800.00 for possibly 44whp (going off Blue350zed baseline), yes it's halfway to the GTM supercharger kit. I'm happy though.

The gears are definitely on the list, maybe cams and headers. I know that headers aren't the most worthy add-on but that would definitely put me past 300whp, cams might make the car less responsive but more power...so we will see. The near future is probably some Weds TC105n.

297 puts you around 37 HP ahead...given the stock #s are 260 for HR.
Headers and cams with labor (unless you're real handy) will set you back another 1.5k? So you're then into this for $4300ish..and maybe 310WHP?
I would rather go SC to begin with for $3000 more (out the door tuned and installed) and another 50 additional HP. GTM or now..the new Stillen Vortec.
I just don't see going forward on spending significant $$ ( say over 2k) for HP improvements unless you're going to add at least 80-100HP.

Just my 2 cents...

Well I guess since right now I don't make as much as I will in about a year (when I go back to sea on a submarine), by then I'll also pick up a new DD, then plan for the SC kit. Cams would help for both N/A and S/C, I do plan on going with the GTM kit. I will never go with stillen ever again.

I guess I would *WOW* on your sig
What have you done to get 317WHP on your HR?? That's a HUGE #. With all bolt ons I've seen #s just shy of 300WHP.
Is that a conventional dyno (Dynojet)?
For reference...I have Osiris, Nismo Intake and Invidia Dual Catback and stock cats. I dynoed 307WHP on a DYNAPAK (Church Automotive). That dyno reads 8% higher than Dynojet, since it's to the HUBS (not wheels). So that would roughly equate to 280 WHP. Add test pipes and maybe 15 more HP..still under 300WHP.

OH YES, specially when you turn the A/C on, lol! But if you increase the RPM's at idle to 750 most of it goes away or 1,000 rpm you can't hear it. You are burning a bit more fuel.....but then again it's not like I bought the car for fuel economy.
