what engine is in the car, is it that your are trying to swap or just wondering the difference?
I actually have 2. A 2004 and a 2008. I am trying to figure out if a swap is a good plan or no. Both cars are gt models and in very similar condition so no gains to be had other than swapping out the engine from the 08 to the 04 if the engine position is better. If its the same then I have no need to and all the work will be done to the 08 and the 04 can be sold to help pay for some of the work...
Thank for the help so far.

The way the engine operates is different alright but the dimensions from oil pan to plenum are the same are they not? Not counting the twin intake.

I mean, different block, heads, upper and lower oil pans, belts, tensioner, sensors. Like it's legitimately probably easier to find out what they share than what they don't.
most will probably say start with the HR.

I lived there about 15 years ago. Myself and a few friends from Ireland were doing blacktop and sealcoating driveways.
Are you in the states? Or did you move back to Ireland?

This sounds like an awesome project - definately start a thread if you move forward

****. My bad. I was under the impression the vq35 motor was the same in both aside from the improvements made to the intake, the valve timing and higher revs.
I was always going with the hr motor and trans anyway but if it helped with the balance of the car I would have put it into the 04.
That def saves me a bit of time. Thanks.😊

Came back to Ireland after a spell out in California a long time ago. Got 2 kids now that have finally grown up a bit so I have some cash to play around with.
This is my first Z. Always wanted a 240z or a 300zx. Its a timeless design. And a great platform to either keep original and cherish as is, or to upgrade the **** out of if that's your thing.
I'll def start up a thread when I get it started.
Thanks. 🤓
