definitely, I love Z1 and their products.

At this point Im really interested what the gains are WITHOUT a tune , just based on its mechanical advantage...then what it does with tuning. cant wait

I'm not looking for his tuned results.
He will make power. The manifold made good power for me.

I'm just saying he needs to get tuned, and get out from being lean.

Are you other guys that bought this just buying the upper Z1 plenum?

You guys doing anything to your Lower Plenum while you're doing this work?
-you should send your lower plenum to Z1 and let them port it.

But the results from just the upper z1 plenum is good too.

I had the chance to put one of these in on my buddies 370z. I'll skip why it took me a week but it seems.....ok? Butt dyno wise, it doesn't feel different and he says his car is a bit faster but other than that, until he gets a dyno, it just "feels" faster. Install was pretty easy and the manifold looked pretty good.

LOL.

yeah dude, read the thread..

Z1 doesn't make any lower plenum. Don't know where you heard or read that lol.

But they have a good machinist that can port the lower manifold.

You don't have to do anything to the lower manifold, but it will definitely help and definitely make power also if you get it port matched as well.

But the upper plenum/intake manifold that everyone is talking about also makes great power.

This Z1 intake manifold for the HR motor definitely makes power.

Now we all just need aggressive cams and a Great Pair of LTH.
That made me think they were making lower mani lol. Yea I read the thread again didn't realize that you already tested this out. 310 without headers is pretty good. Am sure those who have longtube headers will get even better results.

looks like highway robbery...all that can be done with a dremel as I and other have done to the runner and TB side of the manifol...I don't see anything trimmed so I would guess that's it!?!

I wonder what the gains would be if the plastic could be polished/painted some how to further the gains???

No worries at all buddy!!

I'm a good bit past that 310whp/258wtq graph, stock header. Waiting on some Long Tubes and then will cam it.

That graph was just mid tune.

Their Z1 manifold definitely makes power. Hands down. A real good buy. Expect 3-7 and up to 10whp in some places.

If you get them to port your lower manifold, you will also yield good power.

I highly recommend everyone that buys their upper plenum, to also contact Z1 about sending your lower plenum to them so they can port it out as well. Or buy a "core" from them, have them port the OEM Nissan core, and then let them send it out to you that way. They don't list the lower plenum upgrade, you have to ask for it. It's nothing they actually make, rather than their good machinist porting and boring it out and sending it back to you. It's custom work, nothing they "make."

If you're not interested in porting the lower plenum, their Z1 upper plenum still makes real good power and is definitely worth the buy.

I am getting my throttle bodies bored out to pull even more air in, i'll post that graph when I get my throttle bodies back, and also re tuned.

AND PLEASE BUY NEW GASKETS. Cheap.

Upper intake manifold will take 1 rubber gasket. Lower manifold takes 2 metal gaskets.

Not to throw the thread off but if anyone is wondering, our throttle bodies can be bored from 60mm to 65mm.

Recommend to get your Throttle Body shaft machined, as well.

Does boring out the TB 5mm produce any discernible gains?

in for updates also

I think 5mmx2 plus all the port in the lower and upper would make a significant air volume measure change!

60mm diameter = an area of 2827mm
65mm diameter = an area of 3318mm

That's a difference of (3318-2827)/2827 = 17.4% in surface area.

You have to remember that each 1mm gain in diameter is going to create more surface area than the previous 1mm gain, because the outer edge of the "circle" is getting bigger and bigger.

What cams are you going with? I've been contemplating Tomei or GTM's 302/292 giant cam for about 2 years and the 4.2L Stroker Kit. As of late though, I've been eyeing a GTR that's for sale 3 blocks from my office.....

My current upgrades include:
Injen Long Tube Cold Air Intakes
Stillen Headers
Motordyne Test Pipes (ART Pipes)
Motordyne XYZ Pipe
Motordyne Gamma Exhaust
Cobb Accessport Custom Tune (by MacAutosports in Parker, Colorado)

I also have following parts that are yet to be installed.
South Bend Clutch Stage 2
South Bend Light FlyWheel
Z Speed Performance Heave Duty Slave Cylinder
Z Speed Performance/Wilwood Master Cylinder

When I had the car on the dyno (6,000ft elevation) it wasnt even close to 300whp. Made me sad.
