How did you figure that out? That's completely fascinating!
To be completely honest, I got really stressed and mad so I called one of my mechanic friends to come over and help me out and the first thing he did was start the car, then we both started soaking the engine down with starting fluid. as soon as we got near that cap, rpm's shot up. we pulled the cap, through a hand over the hole and the idle was fixed, the sel didn't pop back up. So we popped a rubber gasket on there and boom, it was fixed. Car has never ran smoother. We even called a 350z tech at nissan he was friends with and he said he has never heard of anything like that ever. Hopefully this helps someone, someday ahah.

You're right man, it did need to be fixed and it probably did contribute slightly to the problem. I now see why people don't like to buy modified cars, ahaha. The crappy aftermarket wiring made this such a headache. Thankfully I was able to pull 90% of the viper wiring and it shouldn't cause anymore problems for me.
