Question Crankcase Ventilation?

Hey everyone,

I tried searching for this but I didn't really come up with anything. Could this explain why my idle is wonky? I never noticed I had a leak until today when I had the engine cover off. It looks like there's a little plastic duct that comes off that 'T' shaped box, but it's snapped so I can't just put the hose back on it

What exactly does this do and is it a bad idea to drive around right now? I have no idea how long this has been like this, so I ordered a new crankcase ventilation assembly off Nissan just in case it's urgent to fix right away

If you need to drive immediately go to autozone and get a mini filter to slap on for now.

I think I'm going to leave the engine shield off from now on. Seriously, I had no idea it was even like that otherwise I would have taken care of it immediately

What ever you do, don't cap that vent, the previous owner of my car did that and it caused sooo many problems. Vent it with a filter, or grab that little piece from Nissan and replace it.

I ended up just getting that little square piece off Nissan. I had to purchase the entire assembly for $123.14 but at least the problem is fixed. No more idle issues
