Unhappy Oil Burning smell in cabin.

So soon after i decide to go to castoral synthetic I start smelling a burnt oil smell in cabin. At first i thought it normal, as in a engine is suppose to burn a little oil. After about a thousand miles i was still smelling the oil, it got me a little nervous, I decided to check the oil level on a cold engine. The oil level was half way on the dip stick, yes i check multi. times to make sure it was consistant. I then did some driving around later to see what it would be on a warm engine. The level had a tad over half way on the dip stick. The thing that has getting me worried is i changed the oil a couple days after i got a retune at uprev, I switched from role purple synthetic to castoral synthetic, both were 5w-30.

I got a couple of ides on how to see if it the oil or it could some how be the tune, which i really doubt, but hey it was close to the time of the oil switching.

1. go back to role purple and see if i still get the smell
2.If i still get the smell then contact uprev to see if they have any ideals.
3. go to the dealer ship but have to remove intakes and temp. take off the tune so the stealership has no reason to *****.

also this is a 2007 350z enthusiast with 23,7xx miles, all oil changes were done with 3k to 4k in between oil changes.

So if anyone has any ideals or suggestions please help me out.

O, also forgot on cold start i get a weird ideal, like it gargles so to speak and then it raises up rpms, i guess to fix it and then everything fine. It only does this for a couple of sec. If you guys need a video then ill take one.

could possibly be that the oil is slowly leaking around the valve covers onto your headers and if you have the fan on in your car it could be circulating into your cabin

The smell could be from the jackass that did the oil change not wiping off the excess oil as well.

^ this.

Pull the undertray off and see where it's coming from.

You smell oil. Its burning somewhere. Internal or external. Do a complete external check and come back with results.

Just pull the undertray off and have a good look for leaks. Oil will burn off after a few minutes of warm up so if the smell is persistant, there may be a small leak.

Did you replace the crush washer?

Do you have any header/exhaust wrap that might have picked up some oil?

stock headers with heat shield that came from the factory. I did take the under tray off and i haven't seen any oil. I also turned on the car and no oil was leaking.

Also, just took it to a trusted family mechanic and he double checked and he said him and his other employee didn't see a thing.

Check your oil pressure sender.... Mine started doing the same thing at about 15k. Didnt think much of it till one day I started seeing smoke rolling out the side. Went through several checks, thought I'd fixed it, till it started happening again. Long story short, turned out that the sensor was two full turns from being tight. That was 3k ago and no more smell or smoke.

Ever seen your oil filter? Look for a wire running into that area, the sensor is what the wire is plugged into.

Did you ever figure out what is was causing that smell? I have only used Amsoil and had to use Castrol this past oil change and it is doing the same thing your car was doing...
