Swapping A Nissan 350z De To A Nissan 350z Hr
okay so I've got everything wired in, engine started like a champ on the test drive, dash light up too, but I'm not getting RPMS or mph still... I kept the Fues box from the de engine, if I get the hr, could that be the issue? also I'm having trouble finding where to plug in the bigger size plug from the wire harness, by the passenger side foot area.. any ideas? thats all I have left to have my old girl running perfect again!

sooo, bare with me for repeating questions or asking silly ones but yes I'm currently swapping an 04 de to an 08 hr (I picked up cheap), since the Nissan mag write up is officially gone and I can't find anymore) I wanted to know if running a haltech platinum with the de ecu (to not have to swap entire body harness) would work ?

Hey im currently doing research on HR swapping my 03 Z De. I found this thread and saw you were very successful and was wondering if you could fill me in on everything I will need for the swap. Don’t worry I already have my hr sourced, I just need to know everything I will need off of it.

I speculate that Santana ran into issues and cannot resolve them and therefore isn't showing his face in these parts...

Rewiring one pigtail is an internet myth with regard to swapping an HR into a DE equipped Z. There are multiple connection issues with this swap and while my own HR swap functions adequately for a SCCA racecar, I wouldn't count on it as a streetcar. AceInTheHole probably realized this after he posted this over THREE months ago. He hasn't returned since,,,
So what did you end up wiring up I got the 3rd plug for the he ecm but I'm trying to figure out where to tie it into the dash hanrness I guess if worse comes to worse I will pull the dash harness and try and wire in all the stuff in the 3rd plug it seems like based off most of the pins for that plug it's almost all stuff that ties into the dash

As mentioned in post #12 of this thread, the Z racecar was featured in Nissan Sport Magazine as an ongoing project back in 2008-2012. One of my crew who was a genius with reading and analyzing wiring schematics found multiple areas where Nissan had added data points for the HR that simply didn't exist for the DE. Through his efforts over a WEEK, we were able to make the OEM systems work adequately enough after deleting NATS. I still get CELS all the time and know this swap wouldn't pass Colorado (or other state) emissions checks. But it's an SCCA racecar, so that's acceptable. Still, it's why I don't recommend this swap to DIYers for a streetcar.
I'm still going to give it a shot they sell these harnesses premade if I can't find it I will take the dash apart and rewire i am the electrical guy at my shop so it's not like I have no experience with it I'll look through all my schematics an I will try and figure this thing out.

Good luck!
I'd say post pics when finished, but.....

If not pics, at least post about your success (or lack of) on this thread. There's been several posts that claimed success, but when asked about details, they all disappeared without any further comments.

Hah- after a year or two of running the HR in SCCA road racing competition, the rules were changed to RESTRICT both the HR and DE. Put a 37mm flat plate restrictor on both sides of the HR (in Touring 3 trim) and the top end drops off after 5K. In 2019, I ran the Z unrestricted in Touring 1 against cars like the Z06 and a TransAm3 Mustang V8s. No prestige was involved as they roared away in the straights and killed me off corners with all that extra torque.

The benefit of doing this is that many people have different skill sets here and may be able to help you along the way.
Also, if it craps out and doesnt work - just say that ... I've had many failures and bed-sh!tting on my build but I didnt abandon the build nor let it stop me from pursuing the full potential of the car. Whatever doesnt kill you will only make you better!

he does the wiring for a good price instead of going with zfever. He has been apart of plenty of hr swap g35 and 350z.
found this on Facebook. Has more information as well.
