I think its time for a swap for sure. The rev-up is getting tired and grows more thirsty all the time. Sometimes I find out its low on oil when I can feel the cam actuators freaking out.

After all the mobil 1 I am over it. Good luck with your swap.

you know this is funny because i was thinking of buying a used rev up vq to build since my current VQ is reaching 200k in 40k miles and i want to boost and then a thought came to my head what if i just do an HR swap and build it before throwing it in? and boom i find this thread. I hope G35 owners are welcomed here since seems like the other forums for G owners are dead :/.

If you are rebuilding the engine just do that to the revup, literally a waste of time and effort to get an HR unless you want 800+whp.

likely never happened ... I know if I accomplished this task I would have a million pictures / videos posted and I'd be active enough on the forum.

Santana said it's 100% done and he has no proof...his ego got bruised after he failed to accomplish what everyone said he couldnt and he wont show his face here again...

I hope he does though, I hope he gives us an update, even if it's '****, it didnt work bc this this and this' ... it takes a big man to admit when he's wrong!

Well since it's been a year and a half since he's logged in, I don't think we'll hear from him again. Unless he has a different account. ¿Who knows?
Anyways if I were to try this swap and I had everything I needed, I would keep trying and trying until I got it, even if the car kept fully automatic(ing) codes at me. In the end, whether here got it or not, we'll never know. I like to give people benefit of the doubt though. Maybe he did get it but then something major happened in his life and had to forget about it or sell it. Or maybe he had it, but then it blew up. I mean like BOOM!!!!! blew up. Or worst case, he died......
Either way, "The World May Never Know"

So I see several people ask “why” to this swap and here is why it interests me. I am friend with Tony at Fast Intensions and he has done impeccable work on my car. If you have ever seen the TT system he makes for the 370Z, it is a work of art. It also has the potential to make big HP. I was hoping they would make one for the DE motor but it just isn’t worth the R&D for such an old motor. So if I were to do the swap the system would work. For all the naysayers that say it is unrealistic there is a video of the HR swap with the FI TT installed doing runs on the street.

plenty of good companies with good products out there, of course it can be done but why? Again, just for a product available, that's just stupid IMO. That swap ain't going to act like OEM ever, thats ok for a race car but not a street car.

As a background, I went with the HR because something of a loophole allows me to use that motor in my G35 coupe, which is running in SCCA's ESP class. Due to the class rules, I'm limited to what's available on the G35 (07-08) with limited allowances to modify components for the swap, and was able to get it up and running within the confines of the rules.

Some notes:
- No CEL.

- VDC and ABS work fine.

- HR ECU talks to the DE body and dash through CAN. As a side note: you can load a 350z HR base map onto a G35 HR ECU (which I needed to do since the 07 G35 sedan apparently has a different protocol than the DE Z/G).

- HR starter cleared the DE steering rack. It's close but no issues with it so far. May have to play with things when replacing the starter later but I can live with that since it's not in a terrible spot to access, even with long tube headers.

- DE radiator works with the HR. I used the lower hose from the HR and the upper HR hose didn't quite reach, but the DE lower hose can be cut to work as the HR upper hose.

- Steering controls are activating the UpRev map toggle, but I can't get cruise to "SET". I need to go back over the ASCD wiring.

- Initially had the dreaded "high idle" common on HRs when people clean TBs, but with Nissan Datascan (III) have been getting the Idle Air Volume Learn to stick (fingers crossed).

Car runs and drives great. It's a little odd at first watching the RPMs max out on the tach, but where the DE used to run out of breath the HR keeps pulling.
what did you do and how or what steps were done for wiring in the wire harness to make everything work properly

I literally made an account at 3am just to tell you to shut yo hating *** up cuz you obviously don’t know jack **** about the vq platform. Why tf would be need a steering rack genius. Every vq since the inception of the 350z has the same external dimension discounting the timing cover and lim/uim. I’m over here getting a headache trying to circumvent your ******** to get to the actually useful info in this thread.

Wow, way to be a misinformed *** hat, A lot changed in 05 and the rack changed in 07 per Nissan. The sheer fact that you are searching here means you will fail to swap the lesser of the 2 engines in because there is very little advantage to the HR.

It pretty much is plug and play. I just did this swap. Used my original ECU and wiring harness. Plugged into intake cam sensors and it runs beautifully. Complete different car. Very smooth engine swap.

This guy swapped the DE engine to VQ37HR including the trans and got it working a year ago. Just turbo'd it on his IG.

Or... you could just buy a Z with an HR already in it from the factory. This is still a fcking RETARDED swap given the price of just buying the correct car.
