D.I.Y. cold air intakes. Opinions?
Let me start this off by saying that this is my first day on the forum so give me a break. Please continue reading.
Btw don't mind my ugly heat wrapped upper pipes.. I removed that trash
This project will convert your hot air sucking SRI's (Stillen, Injen, etc) into horsepower producing monsters. Not really, but you get the idea. Maybe you purchased your Z with short rams previously installed or you are simply looking for an upgrade… I purchased my 35k mile HR with stillen g2’s already installed, but I didn’t want to purchased a set of long tube g3’s. Overall, this project will cost you about $100
What you will need:
2x: Spectre 3inch 90 degree bend intake pipes ($10 each at O’Reilly’s or Autozone)
2x: Spectre 3inch by 6inch long intake pipes ($10 each at O’Reilly’s or Autozone)
2x: 2.5 to 3inch spectre reducer/coupler ($10 each at O’Reilly’s or Autozone) (save the reducer.. you’ll need it)
4x: 3 to 3.5 inch hose clamps from auto zone ($4 total)
1x:4-PLY 3" ID 1-METER TURBO/AIR INTAKE/INTERCOOLER PIPING BLACK SILICONE HOSE/PIPE (eBay $37)
INSTALL:
CAREFULLY REMOVED THE BELLY PAN, FRONT BUMPER, AND CRASH BAR
Overall, this saved me a bit of cash and I’m very happy with the final outcome. @saul_nismo_knights is tuning my car and recommended I installed g3’s so I made my own haha. What do you think ?
Goodluck!!

Hate to say it, nut Nissan did a good job with the CAI design. Test it back-to-back with either aftermarket or DIY CAI and you won't fing much difference on the dyno. Sorry!
