So my 08 Z was getting a p0011 and it’s at about 118k miles so I decided to do the gallery gaskets.
I just took off the timing cover, and I marked on the crankshaft where the line is on the oil pump to match the crankshaft with for TDC. However once I aligned it, I noticed that both of my cam sprockets were just slightly off from the circle on the backplate that they are supposed to line up with. And if I line up the cam sprockets correctly, the crankshaft ends up being a tooth off of the mark, but it’s still up and to the left.
I’m wondering what I should do to make sure I get this thing to TDC before I put it back together? Should I line up the crankshaft and then take off the primary chain, get a chain clamp and spin the sprockets clockwise until they’re lined up? They are only slightly off.
Only reason why I’m skeptical about this is because when I was taking out the crankshaft bolt, I spun the motor counterclockwise with my breaker bar probably only 20-30 degrees total. But I heard either one or two faint clicking sounds which makes me thing I might’ve misaligned the chain? would I have misaligned the primary or cam chain?
A bit of a noob here but I would appreciate the help! Gonna upload pictures here in a sec.
Left side cam sprocket needs to go a tooth clockwise And right side cam sprocket needs to go a tooth clockwise too Crank looks to be on point yeah?
