18" vs. 19"
18" or 19" !!!
This is the question...
I want to get some wheels but I dont know what size to get.
Lightweight are a must, are 19" light weight rims going to hurt or help my perf #'s?
Or should I stick with 18"?

18" ride little more softer than the 19" and 19" cost more because you have to replace all the tire. On 18" you can use stock front tire you so save some money.
Not only that but on 19" tire, there is only few companies who make the right size for the wheels where 18" tire, you have lot more choices.
I had 18"s and I just purchased 19"s.
What's your goal in modding this car? Do you want to go racing? Do you want to park it at a show and have people say "nice wheels"? If you're somewhere in between get what you like.

I had 18"s and now I have 19". The only thing I notice more is that on 19", the car is more sensitive to bumps. As for ride quality, there is not too much of difference unless you live in LA where you have lots of pot holes.
I went from stock 18 to Nismo 18 with better tires. My ride quality changed tremendously for the better. I have only ridden in one Z with 19s and I think that ride was also better than my initial stock ride. The stock tires are awful and you will see an improvement either way. I love my 18s but there is no denying that 19s look better.

Yeah, like other people say, if you are going for the look, go get 19's. There are plenty of nice forged 19' that weighs only about 20lbs each, but it's a lot of money. (You get what you pay for) Even if you go with 18's, quality ligheweight forged 18' rims won't come cheap either although they might be still cheaper than quality 19's. Cheap and heavy 18 or 19's won't help at all in terms of performance anyway. For maximum performance, I think forged lightweight 18's are the best choice. If you want a good compromise, then forged 19's are good to go. (Except $$$)

but i will be fair and here are some problems with 19's:
1)performance loss especially noticed in cornering and this is compounded with cornering on street surfaces which arent smooth cause you have the added bounce. heavier rims and a little more rubber.
2)narrower choices of tires sizes and brands that make those sizes so it becomes even harder to price hunt. have to take what you can get and make work. especially with sticking to nissans stagger rule.
after that i think the 18 vs 19 battle is mainly personal choice.
