hey folks, im about to go up the mountain for snow season, is it safe to drive our cars up there? i figured as long as i put on snow chains/cables, then it should be fine right?? please advise before i buy chains/cables. and what kind do you recommend? i read that chains are more sutable due to our low car clearence. thanks

Don't drive this car in the snow. The stock tires are for dry/warm weather. And do not put chains on it....you will be sorry. Best advise is to rent a car or buy a winter beater.......good luck

Put some skinny winter tires on the 350, and you'll be surprised what the car can do with VDC.

i agree with not driving in the snow..i was driving back from flagstaff to albuquerque last week and i spun out going 50mph on the freeway...luckily i didnt hit anything and didnt do any damage (a small scratch on the front bumper)

i will never drive my car in the snow/icey areas again..get a rental and wreck that instead!

Winter tires work extremely well. I run 215/60/16 on steelies and the 350 is as effective if not more so than a FWD on good 4 seasons. I never had an issue of spinning or getting stuck last winter and I took it out in some pretty nasty stuff.

The car is certainly managable without VDC but you have to constantly pay attention.

it's all about driver skill, AND winter tires. i have some LM-22 on my stock 18's and they handle better then my integra ever did. just don't goose the gas on a really slick road cause the back end will want to come out on you. but thats just common sence. i have already driven in a pretty bad storm this year, over Thanksgiving there was very little traction problems and as i passed by the 10 cars in the ditch i wasn't to phased. for them i think that was just some **** poor driving for the conditions. i had a trans am blow past me, only to find the guy in a ditch about 5 miles down. some people just don't think.

thanks for all opinions, but i have stock tires, no winter tires, so i guess i'll be saving so much more money renting than buying tires just for this trip. because i figured using snow chains and cautious driving should solve my problems

A couple of weeks ago i got stuck in a snowstorm. Started like any other sunday( crazy weather in denver). Its was a Sunny day and 55 out, not bad, lets take out the baby. About 4 hrs later dark a$$ skies and flurries. Better get back to Castlerock, co. Not!!!! Started my voyage home , at 20mph, and 6inches already on the road. Everytime i pressed the gas the backend was doing a Belly dance. On the side of the freeway there was a Mazda RX-8 , stuck , kinda sad, not really its a Mazda!!! Could not get into my driveway or street( i live on a hill) . Had to park a block away and walk. Could not get the car in my garage for 4 days. That sucked! Anyways,
Rent a car. thats the moral.

thats what happens when the stock "summer" tires turn to plastic in the snow. they just slip. with some good winter tires this car is really good in the snow. but if you are going to be taking the car out for a day then just rent it will be easier.
